I, like many others, use standard size servos. But they are sometimes too large for the job.
I also use the 9 gram servos, generally with just 0.5 kgrams per cm torque available. This is OK as a rudder servo for about 10 Watts motor power.
I have even smaller ones at 5 grams!
Recently, while trying to find a suitable servo to tuck away for the rudder in a small yacht, I came across 17 gram servos and bought 3 of them.
They were just the size I wanted with a 1.8 kgrm per cm torque. Worked out at about ยฃ4 each, including delivery.
I have tested them with old RC (27Mhtz) and they perform well, no chatter when running with motor and esc. (some of my 9 gram servos are very bad)
Dimensions;- 28mm across X 13mm wide and 30mm high + lugs which stick out a bit further.
Regards
Roy
