You can buy some of the MFA Motors from Ian at www.components-shop.co.uk .
I have just looked at the printed catalogue 2023 which is also on line to download, I believe.
Page 64 has the geared motors from the 280 to the 850 range. The price which has probably gone up-- varies from £10.75 to £50.50 🙈🙄. Hope this is of some help.
Steve. Ho, I was still up very very late last night reading the article on geared motors and drives by mathews model marine 🙄🙄.

I think Krick also has the Graupner line of motors. You can find Graupner motor specs on several sites so a comparison can be made.

Krick definitely picked up the Robbe molds and old stock. I am pretty sure that Graupner was purchased by one of their suppliers; The South Korean company SJ Incorporated.

I think I read somewhere that another firm took over the Graupner line. I’ll try to recall where. MFA Como Drill might be today’s best possible match or someone who sells Mabuchi motors.

I doubt if he would do an update; too many other things going on. He wasn’t the source for Graupner substitutes. I’m pretty sure I can come up with who is, assuming a substitute exists.

This article was written in 2005, the links don’t work now and if you highlight a specific motor and speed reduction it doesn’t show up in Google.

Graupner GR179550

Graupner “1700” Series

Has anyone else tried finding any of these combinations? If so please let us know what is available in 2025.

🤞😁

Thanks for the info, it was so interesting and very well written. That chap certainly knows a great deal of information about motors and gearboxes. I think that I will have to print it out so I can keep a copy handy in my workshop- or very untidy shed, really 😉, so that I can re-read it a few times 👍👍.
