My son busted Leeds hobby shop

The shop was established in 1955 and used to be called "Flying Models Crossgates" . Now it's "Model Shop Leeds" and the phone number is
01132646117.
There was a model shop in the centre of Leeds, I think that was called Leeds Model Shop.🤔 I used to buy all my stuff there when I used to go to Kitson College where I studied Radio Tv Technician course. Couldn't drive at that time so couldn't get to Crossgates shop 🙄. 😭.

Just been in and there's nothing left-some guy from the USA has been in and bought nearly everything!!! --No, only joking 🤣😂😆..

Anyone remember a few decades ago a hobby shop not far from Manchester Abby hotel? The facility guy there took me to his house. His garage was all giant airplanes. I mean really big ones. Also we went to a small hobby shop nearby too. I don’t been try never name but bought some stuff n took it home in luggage. I did same in Istanbul. They had a lot of plastics that came from Russia n Poland. I bought $100 worth n stuffed into a large suitcase with computers that I brought into Turkey. Entering USA the immigration guy opened it. Looked at it. Closed it and said I don’t want to know keep going!

Nice surprise then Hhager. 😁

Steves-s - good job I don't live that close! 😊 Unlike the model shops I used to go in they look to have a good selection of items in stock - no doubt that goes hand in hand with the online side of their business.

Ok about the Leeds model shop 👍. I live about 20 minutes away from the shop 😁😁.
Years ago it was also a newspaper shop, so it was open 7 days a week. I used to call in every Sunday while on my way to Rounday Park to watch the leeds model boat club members sail on the smaller of the two lakes and to give our lassie type collie dogs a really good walk around. At that time I was mainly into flying model aircraft and switched to boats much later on.
I still pop in when I need some bits for building and it,s nice to be able to actually see and touch what I am looking for.😀 I usually come back with other things "that will come in handy" The owner is Martin Sherwood, he took over when his father passed away. A nice lad very helpful along with his staff.
As for the pop concert 😝 it has caused a lot of traffic jams all over, along with a Rail strike on this same Bank Holiday. But this year on the news they have been saying that there are flushing toilets and shower units available for the campers so I might go next year 😎😊. Good luck with your surprise present👍👍. Steve..

Bob - They should do as they have a good online presence as well as the shop. I've bought quite a lot of stuff from them online.

The county I live in (Pinellas) here in Florida has a population of about 1M. There are two hobby shops, one being a private store and the other ispart of a chain. (I'm not including train and gaming stores.)

The private store is down to two employees. Nice store, friendly employees, but the selection is limited. Their main focus is on cars and planes. The will order almost anything but so can anyone with access to the internet.

The larger store (chain) is watered down with toys, puzzles, and the like.

Both stores have a good rc, motors, controls, etc. sections.

Too bad, but the supply and demand drives how a business survives.

There are not so many model shops left open over here in the UK either.

Locally we lost Rossendale Models - a well established shop that had been serving the local community for many years.

Let’s hope the shop in Leeds keeps going, we need all those that are left open in the north west of England to prosper and survive.

Bob.

My son is in your with A band he is the front of house sound. Grammy winner with Miley Cyrus and there with Chappel Roan. He calls me at 8:39 eastern time he is in front of hobby shop. He goes in n dies face time. I look up the web site. He roamed there floors with me on FaceTime. I have never seen so much RC models n RC boats. We focused on kits. One of the owners? cane over n helped him. Once we got the right area I couldn’t remember the Huntsmen boat name. Last I left him he was in need of the restroom. He was going to pick out something. He will bring it back in the tour gear box. You have no idea how we here need hobby shops like that again! My kids will be back when next tour hits Leeds. I think it’s the Devo tour. Shoujd get a call later as to what he bought
