Well I never knew that. I will ask Mr Google all about it! Incidentally, I must confess that I have a "reference" book that I refer to occasionally. The 1967 Admiralty Manual of Seamanship. A mine of handy info!

Very true on that but - again a bit of history - the warhead in the Nulclear missiles has always been a British design and between the early Polaris warheads and the Trident warhead there was a warhead called Chevaline - well documented on Wikipedia

Renown. I went to the launch in Lairds yard. Revenge, our Sea Cadet unit was affiliated to Revenge Starboard watch, the ships company standing by the yard re painted our buildings. Conquerer, watched her roll down the ways too. Interim nuke? Trick question. The Vanguard class (Trident) gradually replaced the Resolution class (Polaris) as new builds came into commission...

Hello Sundodgers

Again a question for those that don't like the sunlight in two part:-

1. Which British Nuclear submarines where NOT built at Barrow in Furnace ?

2. What was the name of the British Nuclear Deterrent between Polaris and Trident ?

Good Luck

Pat
