“I don’t really want to get married,” Olivia said, sounding exasperated. “I’m well-educated, I have a good job, I’m completely self-sufficient, and, all in all, I’m very happy with my life. But my parents won’t stop pestering me to find a man and get married. What should I do?”
“As your psychiatrist, I feel compelled to point out that you are going to achieve a great deal in your life,” John said. “But you will also find that things don’t always go the way you want. Sometimes, plans go awry. And who will you blame then? Yourself?”
“Of course not,” she replied confidently.
“Exactly,” John said, pointing at her. “That’s why you need a husband!”
I don’t wish to leave anyone with a negative vibe about my wife, she is a very intelligent person who knows me well. She is organized, educated far beyond me. She reads several books a week, sews most of her own clothes and several of my shirts n hats too, she bakes bread and cooks fine meals, laundry is clean and fresh, grows flowers that adorn the property, golfs with me and usually has a lower score than me, ( I wander around the golf course) she plays a very consistent game.
It is best to write out a talk and highlight your speaking points. It’s easy to wander and get off track if something distracts my train of thought.
So, Roy, if there is a chance to video the talk, I will send it to you.

On the other point of rambling as perceived by a wife. Some stories bear repeating and worth hearing. My wife has no concept of stories being funny and she can kill a story stone dead by just saying the punch line. She does laugh so there is a sense of humour but if something happens to her she starts at the end!
You can probably understand that I am also categorised as 'rambling'! But I continue to ramble on and the audience is still there!
I used to visit a mate for his last 10 years and he was 103 when he passed. He would tell me an incident I had heard before but I would divert it part way through so it came out with a slightly different perspective and view point. When you get to 85 and all your bits are still functioning a famous gent, Alan Bennett comedian and play write in UK coined the phrase Extreme Adult.
As you approach 90 with far more past than future you lose having to worry what people think, I have 18 months to go now. This does not mean being unkind just not bothered!
Yes I think maybe my wife is right I do ramble on a bit. Best advice I can pass on is keep singing in the shower!

Right you are Rod, I hope you like what I have to say. My wife says I have a tendency to Ramble, so bring your crook to get me off stage when times up 😂 or I have put the crowd to sleep 😴

On one of our visits, a yard worker took my camera on board and took photos of her deck, wheelhouse and features which would then be used for my drawings.
