I love tugboats I have built one and am currently building another.

and to be honest I would need good expert advice before buying anything,far to risky buying almost blind of up a gum tree e.t.c. sorry to be so negative ,but I need to get this purchase right otherwise it can end in tears

Hi MTB man.The point is that it is really shocking just how much people are
giving away. Some peeps ( often widows and or children ) Just want to get rid asap while others want things to go to good homes so to speak.A lot of the time they have no idea of the true value of what is there. it happened to me as I said . 7, Planes and a complete ready to go fast pilot launch All were complete and fully fitted out. Tx s and Rxs good quality Futaba stuff .Plus tools chargers paints airbrush and much more.Another donor gave a Tiger Moth kit worth about £ 200.Another a model of a continental canal barge two brand new Graupner 600 motors and a matchstick tramcar kit plus a lod of bits and pieces. Another gave me a Clarke scroll saw. So it can hnappen all from a couple of free ads.I am not saying to take advantage of people and you can offer something you feel appropriate as I did. in my case she would not take anything for herself and said that she was" Only too glad that the stuff was going to someone who would appreciate it." So don't be shy ,or proud . Give it a try it costs nowt and could work out well/ BTW sometimes the widow or whatever " Just want's to get rid of all his bloody JUNK "

Not 100% sure of your point,but I doubt weather anyone as a large scale RC Tug just to give away

Steve So sorry to hear of your probs but it is surprising what can be obtained just for the asking on Sites like free cycle and the like I got a whole load of stuff from a lady whose husband had passed away. She was just giving the gear to me but I offered a donation to the cause of her choice which she accepted. Among all the aircraft and radio gear batteries and chargers was a lovely pilot boat . Vosper launch . All radio etc and batteries ready to go. Trouble I can't get out as hips suddenly got worse so can't get out yet. Anyway try it and see . Worth a try at least. Best wishes John

😊 Whilst I am on the specific subject of RC Tugboats

I wonder if fellow members could maybe give me a short list of say three of the Best RC Large Scale Tug-Boats
currently available? 😄
Similar to the ENVOY. at least I can look at all the options before deciding which one.

Of course should their be any of these First Division Tugs be available pre-Loved then that to is an option
But I must just add that I will only purchase a Second hand Tug from a reputable seller
and the tug must be the latest or near latest spec if at all possible.

I had a really bad experience a few months ago(not for the first time I might add)
A chap was selling a Moor-cock tug on ebay,I thought the tug looked great but others disagreed and signaled caution! which is why I sought feedback in the first place.I even arranged for a courier pickup e.t.c
I was open with the seller all along, explaining at every turn what I was doing,Then he started saying I have other keen buyers waiting,you must make up your mind, I began to feel pressurized, and in the end I told the seller that after taking much advice and feedback, I had decided not to purchase!

What I was not expecting was his reply..I nasty tirade of abuse,and thus this became my first real experience of being bounced in to a sale by someone well known,and not a very nice guy apparently.
I was totally honest and nearly bought the thing! so I have forum members(to thank) elsewhere.
The guys on the forums were very understanding explaining some of them had built for him and had variety of contact with less than pleasant experiences!

Regrettably I am ultra sensitive,just in my makeup and was shaken very badly by the whole experience,and it as taken me these months since to come back to the fold,Lessen learnt I hope. 😫

All I can do is try to overcome ,best I can.
On the plus side My new shed will be built approx 55 mtrs from waters edge,I intend to by a 4 x wheel trolley with some kind of flexible strop so the Tug can sit and move a little,with secure straps of what ever kind?
(yet to be designed?)

I am sure from what I have read that if my potential tug is to a good spec from the start then maintenance should be ok? and should their be anything major I have a brother in law upstairs who is more than capable of handling.So Derek, things will be okay hopefully..


At the moment I am loking at a ENVOY tug (Model Slipway) all depends how much it is going to cost me to get it finished? as it is a part build.

Hi. I don't wish to put you off boating. But the bigger they are, the more maintenance. They are. I know I have Caldercrafts Imara that weighs in at 2.5 stones (English). Beautiful model. As a taster have you thought if getting a nice looking 1M yacht to get handling practice. Bit like fishing without the mess%uD83D%uDE00. Very relaxing.

I appreciate your efforts ,very much appreciated.I suppose if things were different it might be a way forward.
But I have eyes on bigger things, the actual building to be honest is not a great appeal to me.
so A pre built TUG is now the goal I was looking seriously at a large Perkasse Boat but in my heart of hearts TUGS are what I really want, possibly a Model Slipway model ,which as being offered to me as a possibility will know more in the morning.

My wifes family are arranging a shed for me for my 60th in sept.
unfortunately whilst handling the finished boat is not really an issue and going in the water is only 55 mtrs away from our house, building anything is out of the question,I have skin problems (non treatable) my hadns hurt very quickly and bleed.so A pre built is what im after..
in fact I ma trying to buy one as we speak

As I am retired I go into the shed for a hour and exit 3 or 4 hours later.
Time fly's when you are have fun and I think it improves you health and makes the brain work.
Build the MTB, we have seen too many PT109's!!!!
