Hints & Tips

Hi Fireboat,
Maybe a section similar to your (build Blog or Media Gallery)sections, so that anyone can post any hints or tips when ever they wish.
Under one heading HINTS AND TIPS.
If it looks right it probably is.

Stephen , I think you are missing the point - this would not be about how to do one single thing - more like beginners general how to in a single thread. If we were all to post our little easy methods we have found over the years it would create an enormous number of headings in that section.

Been making boat models for well over 60 years and still learning new tricks.

Hints & Tips

I think a hints and tips section would be a good idea.
Not only will it help fellow modellers but hopefully it will encourage the new Guys to the hobby of model making.
We a losing so many skills these day as the younger generation seem to play computer games instead of using there hands to create something and to master some new skills.

Martin.

Sounds like the sort of thing you would find in a 'beginners' section.

The early modellers magazines often had a section with 'good ideas' sent in by readers...

Hints & Tips

Thought about it Doug, but the idea was to get others to add to it in a general manner rather than a formalised set of how to do it on one topic. Have offered to help a few people on another model boating site - usually quite basic stuff experienced modellers don't tend to think about .

How about adding them to the 'How To's' Red?
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug

Hints & Tips

Would it be possible to start a topic on hints & tips in building?
For instance I struggled for years with filler application , and when going through my old artist type oil paints etc to pass on to my kids , came across some old W&N palette knives. They work a treat from the very small to very large applications. Had bought a cheap set before leaving UK from one of those outlets that pop up from around Christmas, dug that one out and the broad and angled blades work well for the large applications. The flexible heads push the filler in very well and practically no wastage.
