Hi Martin could I possibly impose on you to help me out with the flashing Morse lamp. The guy from the club who said who could build the system for me has let me down and I can’t get hold of him to get the system he was building. I would really appreciate it if you could build me a unit which I will gladly reimburse you all costs for. The (at tiny ic) sounds good for the job. I only want a short greeting message.but will leave it to you to decide what unit is suitable. I would like to use a white 5mm led on six volts with a resistor using 30milli amps which I have already fitted.
Many thanks Ian

Thanks Martin It will be a few weeks yet as still a lot to build and some electronics to finish as well. At least now I can get on with finishing the wheelhouse now the Morse lamp is sorted out.

If you get stuck I could program an (AtTiny IC) with a message of your choice.
Complete with a wiring diagram.

Thanks that’s always another route. Though will try first to get a real morse setup working if possible.

You might even take a random blinking chip out of one of the cheap 99p fibre-optic lights on ebay. Ready programmed - though, unhappily, not valid morse....

That’s what I’ve been looking at. However another member in our club is well into raspberry pi units and has offered to program one for me, as it is a bit involved for me I’m still on basic electronics.

Hi I just had another idea.
If you have only got a very small space you could always program a (AtTiny IC)
Using the Arduino PCB to program it.

I did that in my Gato Submarine.

You could control the signal using the Arduino PCB.

Thanks I was hoping it was but couldn’t find it anywhere. That link you sent Martin explains all. Now I can set it up to operate that way. The way DG say it could work make real sense. I have a couple of morse light systems planned so can go ahead now and experiment with them

No reason in theory why it shouldn't be a morse signal light, operated from a key in the cabin below and readable by any ship in the close vicinity. A directed light would be likely to have a longer range, but if you are only interested in close communication among a fleet of trawlers then it might be quite convenient to have an unmanned slave light working off a similar circuit to the radio...

Hi all hoping to get some help identifying this light (no124 on drawing) it is on the wheelhouse of the Milford Star Caldercraft Kit. It was a Round Table class Minesweeper converted to a Steam Trawler. I want to have it working so would like to know the purpose of it. On the drawing it is called a Morse lamp but never seen one that shines 360 degrees, and doesn’t seem high enough for an anchor lamp. On the foremast their is already a navigation light and red and white lights for trawling, a stern light is fitted at rear of superstructure. What could be the use of this light?
