Help needed on outboard for Tom Kat

Thanks for the advice Phil - strimmer cord would seem to be an easy answer , the motor has slots at the rear to accept the dog drive so presumably the rear brass fitting was the dog drive . Take it was not permanently fastened to the dummy motor ?

As I remember the drive was "just a torque spring" aprox2mm diam x 15 - 20 mm long. Held by gromit screws within a brass bush each end. Greased and supported within the silicon tube.
As a temp fix when my torque spring failed , I replaced it with a piece of plastic strimmer wire!.
Worked OK ! - Hope this helps !.👍🤞😎

Help needed on outboard for Tom Kat

Many years ago was given a Ripmax Tom Kat dummy outboard by Barry at Westbourne - returned by a customer for some reason - (he never heard from the customer again).
Had thought of converting it using small brass/nylon bevel gears obtained from SHG a few years ago. Probably be easier to use the original type drive which I believe was a normal shaft with a flex cable at the end and a dog drive attached to suit the part on the motor. Problem is I have no idea how the flex cable was attached, how thick it was, how long it was and where do you get the dog coupling from ?
Any suggestions or does anyone have a Tom Kat to measure from ?
