Battery sizing

Hi thanks for your reply. but is it club waters only or can anyone use it. Also is IC allowed? I live in Dartford Kent one of my sons live in Heywood and I visit up there a couple of times a year and it looks like a large lake and if it is ok for anyone to use I thought I could also bring a boat or two with me when I come. I know there is another place at Mutual Mill at the end of the road where my wife has a house that she rents out but I have never been to see how large it is. I did ask once if it was fishable but told it was for private use only. But wasn't told back then that is was used by a model boat club.

The picture of the lake in you avatar, could you please tell me where it is and is it a club lake only and does it have any restrictions? ie IC or anything else?

Thanks for that, the faulty battery was 4S, and in bench testing seemed a bit viscious.

I have the very same boat but a 2700kv inrunner, with a 120A turnigy ESC, I nearly always use a
3s 5000mah Turnigy lipo, I find this fast enough and gets on the plane within 10ft, have used a 2s lipo,
if the lake is busy, but still goes like S***.😐

Cheers, Pete

Hi there I'm no expert but looking at the spec of the motor it really depends on how fast you want it to go but your maximum is 5S 18.5volts. I'm sure others will be able to offer recommendations based on there own boats.

Poles: 4
Max voltage: 18.5V (5S)
Max Current: 100A
Max Watts: 1200w

No Load Current: 2.9A
Can Diameter: 39mm (actual motor diameter)
Can Diameter inc. Water Jacket: 49mm
Can Length: 69mm
Shaft Size: 5mm
Weight: 415g

Hello chaps,
Have been absent for a while ,having been sidelined with plastic kits; but having made them, what to DO with them!
I have built a very respectable 50" KD Perkasa.
Have never had it in the water, but recently found a club water within reasonable travelling distance and want to USE it.
I have been regularly maintenance smart charging the Li Po battery until it burst (Turnigy).
The motor is a Turnigy Aquastar 3974 2200 Kv brushless with Turnigy water cooled ESC. Prop is a single 50mm.
Please can someone advise me on what size battery I need.
