Rookie Salior

ah never spotted the dam water cooling bit...

so I'll have to rig that up now 😊

you can watercool outrunners by cooling the mount, when they heat up and you stop running the heat wells towards the front of the motor so does need cooling ,good motor, are you fitting two ?

hear are two watercooled in a 46" boat belonging to a friend during tests, the extra wires are for the data recording and gps

Mark, You will find that the ESC
you have ordered is made for water cooling with inlet and outlet stainless pipes, I suggest you DO use it unless you are wealthy enough to keep buying ESC's

Oooo I need to work out the shaft I'll need as well once I have the motor then I'll move onto prop shaft length 😯 😯

All I will do is create air cooling for the motor, I'm avoiding water cooling as much as possible 😊

yea I'll try to find a 45mm and 50mm prop for her and see how it goes

thanks for the rudder detail I know what to now hunt down 😊

Mark,
A good motor, but really for aircraft,i.e. does not have watercooling...look at watercooled brushless with the same company, the ESC is the same as mine, I use a large standard rudder purchased from cornwall models and a 50mm two blade prop NOT an X speed. I had a three blade 60mm brass prop on originally, that worked fine until I lost it in the lake, so you have a bit of a choice

Well its all ordered!

inc a new 4000ma battery which I can use in my planes or the boat 😀 😀

That should fit the bill very well. There is little info regarding props but providing you use a watt meter to measure the wattage taken you should not have any real problem. I guess it will be a bit like choosing a prop for a model plane to get the result you require. Good to see you have found a suitable set up. Please share your final choice in the power Set Up section so that others can be inspired 👍

HI Mark
Have the same 49" Aeorkits fieboat, and have put in an 1800kv brushless motor with a turnigy 120amp ESC..
(elelectric speed comntroller) with a turnigy 5000mah 4cell lipo battery to power it, probably could go up to a 5 cell
with this ESC, but at the moment it runs very quick and up on the plane easy.

Dave,

sounds like a plan 😊

Photo of the splash of paint its had so far 😀

Right so research has revelled I could ideally do with an electric motor equivalent to a 46 I.C motor
Thinking Brushless and do not mind out runners either, then a decent ESC to handle it all.
Prop needs to be a 2Blade X type 45mm

anyone got an recommendations ?

48" Crash Tender

Hi,
New to the site and have posted In someone elses thread so thought ah better get my own thread going 😁

Now I have since discovered a few bits about the boat I bought 😊

So I got this 48" Crash Tender off the one and only ebay

it looks like It had an I.C engine In It at some point. So now I want to go electric. I need to work out batterys/motor/Prop solutions

I fly R/C planes so li-po batterys or set up does not worry me and I will probably have batterys I can use In the boat any way 😁

Rudder build will be required as well.

plan Is to splash some paint on It and yes splash, I cannot use spray guns or cans otherwise so It could end up looking a bit rough or just done Its work load 😁 😁

I have order some clear coat/lacquer to help water proof It as well
