Welcome to the forum.
Take a look in the ‘How To’ section of this website. It has useful information on how to connect everything up. Most ESCs include what is called a BEC or battery eliminator circuit which steps the motor battery voltage down to a suitable level for the receiver. The control lead from the receiver to the ESC carries the power to the receiver.

Hi all .... newbie here .... just starting out on the hobby though 52 years young ! I am looking for some simple plain advice diagram on how to wire my boat for 2 channel operation with a motor and a rudder ..... have a battery pack a tx a rx just need a esc but no idea what connects where ? Where does the receiver get its power !
