Thanks Joe,
You're right, shudda dun that years ago!
Case of 'if it ain't broke - don't fix it' I suppose!!
Might be worth a go now though.

Doug,
"Wonder if there's Software/Firmware Update that'll fix it!?"

If you register your TX on the Spektrum site and put in the serial number, it will tell you of any updates. But I doubt that they would have that type of upgrade for EU. ☹️

"had forgotten the EU issue"
Rats! Me too Joe. Damn EU Regs😠
Can't see any reason why they would ban an RC protocol, especially when you see what a variety of sophisticated protocols are in use today.
There was a time when the German Govt. outlawed the use of any frequency hopping techniques for private use. But now - everyone's at it😉

Funny, thought my set was more than 5 years old 🙄
Wonder if there's Software/Firmware Update that'll fix it!?
Glad you don't have that problem 👍
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS Wanna buy a DSM2 Orange RS/Stabiliser unit!?😁

Mine talks with a Hungarian accent. I have a mute button but it does not work. I tried changing the language to English but becomes rather hesitant. If I talk about a new one, it answers back. Like the rest of you, I am now very familiar with this model and will not change for a bright new one as there would be far too much learning required to use it properly.😁
I cannot promise to finish one project before starting another. I know, I tried.

Doug,

Thought you might find this interesting.

Got to the bottom of the dsm2 issue. I have been able to bind and get a variety of my dsm2 RX's fully functioning on all channel, they include Spektrum, Orange and LemonRXs. They work because my TX is the model sold in the USA.

Here's more,
"if you get a Spektrum transmitter that was imported into the EU after the change (first part of 2015) then your DSM2 receivers will NOT work with the new transmitter." This is due to the EU regulations that make DSM2 illegal in newly imported transmitters.

I had read this previously but had forgotten the EU issue. ☹️ You probably already know this....

"Although a newer model is very tempting i fear the cost of replacing it is well out of my budget LOL!!"
No no no Martin!
Don't replace, just (🙄) reprogram😉
And IF you EVER learn how to do that ... write a How To book and make a million!
It would top the best seller charts for years n years .....
😁😎
PS Very best regards to the better half😉

"They do bind but I guess your experience showed that they did not fully function regardless of successful binding?? Was this your experience?"
Hi Joe,
Congrats👍 I could never get the Orange DSM2 RX to even bind☹️
Maybe a true Spektrum RX will. I'd be surprised though, but let me know how you get on.
I now only use the little Spektrum AR610-X 6Ch receivers with my DX6.
My experience prompted me to make a little test rig; wooden frame mounting 4 mini servos so I can easily check various TX/RX combinations.
Good luck🤞

Martin,
Regarding "tea and toast", I haven't got that far in the manual yet. 😮

Doug,
I started reading the manual even before the TX got here, plus all of the reviews and other info.

Thanks for pointing out the dsm2 modulation. I see in the manual that they now say the dx6 does not work with dsm2. I do have two of the older dsm2 RXs that I tried to bind earlier this evening. They do bind but I guess your experience showed that they did not fully function regardless of sucessful binding?? Was this your experience?

"tea and toast"
Hi Martin,
I've had a DX6 for several years, hardly use it since I bought a (much cheaper German branded) TGY 6 which is much easier to program.
The DX6 only makes toast if you stick it's battery in bassackwards☹️
Tea it can't make cos it has a fear of water, must have been bitten by a rabid dog sometime!
Like most TXs the DX6 is designed for the Flyboys so the first thing it does on switch on is to moan at you if you haven't pulled the throttle stick right back = STOP for aircraft.

Joe: Read the manual very carefully! There's lotsa good stuff in that TX - once you've deactivated all the aircraft presets.
Have fun, and make sure all your RXs are also DSMX cos the DX6 won't talk to DSM2 RXs.
Something I found out the hard way with an Orange RX/Stabiliser combi.

Time for a new TX - DX6

My old JR XP783 TX radio is finally entering retirement. I upgraded this original FM with a 2.4 mhz module back in about 2006 and it has served me well. Lately it just throws a fit every so often and totally wipes all of my model settings.

Since I own a lot of Spektrum RXs already, I decided to stick with Spektrum. Ordered and just received my new DX6, a dsmx receiver, very excited setting it up. Holds up to 250 models, guess I have a lot more building to do. And yes it talks! Great for flying as you get voice alerts without taking your eyes off of the plane. I'll keep you updated if I have any issues and how I like it.

Joe 😊😎😎😎
