About this boat

This is my Smit Nederland Tugboat I started building her about 3 years ago!

I completed her about 3 weeks ago after taking some time away from the hobby!

She has twin screw dual independent throttles!

She also has 2 smokers that are variable with increase in speed!

And she also has working running lights!

And a working radar!

She was a very good build!

I'd like to say Thank you, to Martin555 for helping me with her mast lights!

Ed-

PS, the figures are all 3D printed and hand painted!

I spent a few days trying to figure out how to fix my botched-up Mast!

As the lighting wasn't correct and Albert90 was kind enough to let me know it was Botched up!

    Thanks, Albert90 it's now fixed!

    Anyway,

I ended up pulling the old led's from the aft of the Mast!

I then had to somehow drill tiny little holes to run the wires from the new led's!

I carefully did everything without breaking the Mast!

It was a real challenge to do this repair!

This is what I ended up with!

    Repairs all done- 👍

    Hi Albert90,

I see what you mean about the lights!

As I was building the Mast, I didn't have any reference to her lights!

    Someday I'll fix that mistake!

But, for now all I can say is Oop's! LOL!

    Thanks for noticing!

    Cheers,

Hello Ed, I’m also building this tug.
I think one thing with the lights is wrong. the white red white light at the rear of the mast means: limited maneuverability, and is red white red. But very good looking built model,👍

    Ed And Peter,
I think the red LED draws more current, so if the same value resister is used in both cases then the Green will be brighter than the Red.

I am not an electrical wizard so maybe other members could explain the reason why this could be happening.

    Martin.

    Hi Peter,

It's 5 volts for all my LEDs with a resister that was supplied by the Manufacturer!

I haven't a clue as to its rating! LOL!

But I believe I did it correctly because I haven't blown myself up! TeHe😂🤣👍

    But these LEDs are bright!

My port is a bit dimmer than my starboard side!

    Cheers,

    Hi Peter,

I know it looks really bright!

Not sure why that is though?

I'll take a look to see if it's too bright maybe I can place a higher who Resister?

    Maybe?

    Hi Martin,

    Thank you, Sir! 👍

I thought about the Smit not having figures and the ones they sell just don't look right!

    So, I thought Hey, I have a 3D printer!

    That was the answer!

I am glad to be back!

    Thank you all,

    Cheers, Ed-

    Hi Len,

    You're Welcome!

You can find all sorts of figures on Thingy Verse!

This is where I source all my figures!

It does take time in printing and also painting the figures!

But it's a lot of fun!

    Cheers,

    Hi Guys,

It's sure feels good to be back!

    Thank you all,

    JB, Peter and Cash!

Peter, I got the files from thingy verse!

Then I had to scale them to fit the Smit Nederland!

I'll be doing the same for my Happy Hunter Build!

Peter, when you go to Thingy Verse just do a search for male figures and female figures!

And choose from what pops up under the search!

    Cheers,

    Hi Hhager2,

Yah, it's about 34.1/2" long and about 11.1/2" wide!

She's got a bathtub shape hull!

She should be a nice tug to float!

Sorry, to read you lost yours in a fire!

For my smokers I ran rubber tubes up the smokestacks!

Each stack has its own smoker giving a better realism!

I had thought about the Creole Queen but once I saw her size.

Let's just say the wife put an end to that build! LOL!

I really like working with plastic it's my forte!

I tried working with wood kits years ago!

    It wasn't a good experience-------

Is this the one that is very big? If so I built that boat but never had it run in water. We had a house fire that year and it was a blob of plastic. I have looked gir that boat a few times to but. I gave up so I have my creole Queen river boat to build. I only had one smoker n a T pipe to both stacks. Engines had one Esc. Loved working on the plastic. I did white body n red bottom with black above waterline. It had a lot of detail. Good luck n have fun floating it.
