I have just been fixing this boat up. It was built in about 1962 by my dad from his own plans. Made from Balsa wood with the bow carved from a block. All the bits were cut on my mums bread board and the boat was assembled on the dinning room table and always caused a ruckus when it had to be removed for dinner. It started life with a 2.5cc marine IC and made a real mess of the bath tub when dad was testing it. Now it has an Aquastar 4084 x 620kv brushless motor in it and 90 Amp ESC. I have the same motor in my Perkasa. The design is based on the Fairey boats and I remember dad always wanted one of the kits but couldn't afford one, so as all good engineers he decided to make his own. It's a bit broad in the beam but it moves through water very well. Just been on sea trials and looks good on the water

I am sure your dad would be really pleased to see you are using TLC on his boat.
That is a item to treasure and pass down to another generation when the time
    comes, with some written history.

Hi. Yes the breadboard survived and went on to be used for cutting a balsa wood glider. The bath and brother were fine but when dad ran the IC engine in the bath it left an oily mark at the water line. Mum was not pleased ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nice one. I hope your dad cleaned up the bathroom, and did the bread board survive ?๐Ÿ˜‰
I'm sure you're proud to own such a survivor.

Thanks for all the likes and comments, and yes I will hang on to it. It was actually tested for buoyancy by putting my younger brother in. He was only a baby and fitted perfectly. My mum freaked out ๐Ÿ˜‚. I must point out it wasn't my idea and no children were harmed in testing the boat.

Well done - you must be attached to your Dad's old boat.

1962 was a long long time ago and this is a real survivor! Hang on to it.
