About this boat

I built this one for my grandaughter. She is from a MB free plan about 12 inches long that used to have a swing rig. I don't like swing rigs so set up a very simple sail set from ripstop nylon material.

The sails are just hot cut so no sewing needed.
The vane steering works very well and on a small pond keeps you very fit!
Again no radio but a lot of fun for a young person.

Susie says "Not seen this one before"! You are not old enough puss.

As you can see she has a long skinny keel. This is part of a re-purposed 3 foot boxwood ruler. Very stiff.

Was she originally designed as a Footy?
    I like the vane control
Looks good to have some fun with.

It was a free plan with MB magazine issued some while before I used it. May have been pre-footy? I think the footys are more substancial though.

She has an aircraft carrier stem keeps the boat dry, that might identify it with somebody. I made her at least 15 years ago.

From your photo I believe it is a design called 'Ripple' and was a free plan and construction article in Model Boats November 1991 issue. December 1991 had an article on how to sail the design.
