About this boat

This was one of the first 3D printed boats I produced. Since printing this one I've produced two for members of my model yacht club and are about to print two more for other members.

The Tri65 uses the rig from a DragonForce 65. I originally printed this one for conventional sailing with a centreboard and t-foil rudder. After building the MOD20 trimaran my original green Tri65 has had the centreboard removed and is now fitted with a pair of hydrofoils

Chris is the designer and only person selling the files. If you look at the FB group you’ll see a load of my boats, think I’ve printed 10 now for various people.

This one has now be superseded by v2.0. Foiling only and has the foils set 50mm further forward than the v1.

The other main change is the fitting of a sail winch rather than a servo and arm.

    Hi Ian

I’ll email you with details on how to get the STL files and I’ll send you the build instructions and a table I’ve produced for the non printable parts you need in order finish the boat.

That looks cool and as it happens I am looking for another project. I have a 3D printer so would it be possible to forward the files to me or maybe I can buy? My email is -

I appreciate the time and effort to make this work and the green machine looks fast sitting still! Have you ever tried a monohull in a larger scale? My mind is racing now...

3 D printing (almost?) seems like 'cheating' but why not, (we're all short of time). What a fantastic looking, (& sailing?) Tri. Hydro foil stabilised even. Photo tip for all U 'AMAZING' modellers, with such 'well presented craft'. Do we 'really'! want to know your work area is as messy as ours??? A sheet may hide the 'back ground'? 🤔 Think deep! 'B J'.

I did not think I would become interested in the 3d models but am warming up.

Looking forward to seeing action on water with the foils.

3D printing gets a bit addictive. Initially bought mine as I wanted scale figures for various boats but have ended up printed a number of boats that I'll get around to adding to My Harbour. Also printing boats for other people that helps pay for the running costs and filament collection.

The pics shows the collection of filaments and the printer sits in what was my guitar/dressing room that was hastily converted into office space when COVID hit

    Hello Neil W.,
This is exactly what I'm still missing, but it would really narrow down the crafting space.
But who knows whether my son will bring something like this home with him. .
One-on-one meeting, without women! They are against it anyway!
