   Hi Pat,
   
   I also sailed this superb 1/24 scale Loyal Class at Southport for quite some time too as it complemented my 1/24 scale Coastal Command craft that I made and sailed at that time.
   
   My boat was made by a fellow Southport Club member who was kind enough to sell it to me, and it went very well indeed.
   
   Sadly missed - probably one that I should have kept!

   I sailed an identical Maggie M on the same Southport club lake for quite some years.
   
   A lot of lead needed to be added to bring her down to the correct waterline, but once done, she sailed so much better than she did when she was sat too high above the water.
   
   I remember taking more and more cut pieces of soft lead sheet with me every week and moulding it into the contours of the hull once I found the best location for it - until I got it to sit perfectly in the water.
   
   The problem was that adding the right amount of lead to achieve the correct “sit” in the water made the boat very heavy to launch and retrieve…….and is the only reason for selling it as I did enjoy sailing her.
   
   This is one of the reasons why I usually only build, restore and drive Classic Model Power Boats these days as they are so much lighter and easier to carry…….and I really enjoy the nostalgia of keeping these boats alive and working every week.

   Pat, sorry to hear about your health issues. Saying goodbye to those handsome models must be rough. I keep fighting my age and for me model boats and tanks keep me going. Right now I am fighting that age old (or is it old age?) problem of fitting 10 pounds of $hit is a 2 pound bag in rebuilding my Wiesel. Take care, Lew

   I can relate. I’m selling off boats n planes n kits. I can’t move around in my home office or workroom. We seem to build similar crafts. Pic of some of the stuff. Sterling Scout n Creole paddle wheeler RC not shown. More aircraft RC are in workroom too. Glad for any interest in helping clean workshop. Anyone wants to make offer n maybe pick up. I’m near (30 mi west) Boston

   That is quite a great model collection. I believe you are the one with the most toys!
   
   This A227 is probably my favorite so far. The proportions, paintwork, and detailing are absolutely beautiful. It has a lot of character and really looks like a working vessel. You can tell a tremendous amount of craftsmanship and time went into it.
   
   Fourteen models is an impressive fleet!
