About this boat

I bought the Club 500 first, ready assembled, off a fellow club member so that I could get used to operating an RC power boat. This was ideal as it wasn't too fast (but fast enough) and didn't matter if I hit the bank. I then used it for club racing before that died out due to Covid. It did suffer damage when I caught the steel launching device which sticks out into the lake. This resulted in a bent rudder and the plastic housing/mounting for the servo, ESC and switch and so I made another out of ply which is secured in place with Velcro.

The second boat bought was the Lite Warrior which was also used for racing. I did quite well with it because it's not manically fast and easier to handle which on our small lake is a benefit.

Third boat is Scott Free race boat. I've only ever run this boat once as it's not really suitable for our small lake. It takes a while for it to get going by which time you have to back off for a turn and it drops off the plane again. More suitable for a large lake with sweeping turns.

And lastly the FTX Glader which has a water-jet. I went down to the club one day and a couple of the guys had these and were having fun and I was offered a go, big mistake! For about £50 and substantially made they are great fun and often unofficial racing breaks out as a number of members have them now. They sometimes end up on the bank but take the rough and tumble in their stride. Part of the reason for getting one is that I will be scratch building a model using a water-jet.

Hi Chris, you really are a long-time speedboat enthusiast.
That’s great for me, knowing I can count on an expert in the field.
In fact, I’m already taking advantage of your expertise, hahaha.
