About this boat

This model is a scratch built 1/15th scale model of an Ocean going pleasure craft built in 1964 by my late father. it was originally powered by a large bosch windscreen wiper motor, but has been replaced with an MFA RE 800 stock motor running from 2 x 12V sla batteries. Dry weight 13.2 Kilos. Last sailed in 1992 on open sea at Aberystwyth, I was on my dads fishing boat watching as dad sailed her the full length of the south beach and back into the harbour. Now ready to relaunch on Saturday 10th June 2017 at WMBC open day. (Motor: MFA . RE800) (ESC: Fusion Aquapower AQP128) (9/10)

What a fantastic looking model that is Colin, I really like that.

Thanks Alessandro, yes she is beautiful and sails true scale speed using 2x 12v 7ah batteries wired in parallel gives me all day sailing and steady enough for younger children to try their hand at controlling.
There's no better way to put smiles on onlookers faces than to see small children enjoying using my models.
    Cheers Colin.

    Hi Colin.
I imagine that, with two 7Ah batteries in parallel, it has a great autonomy. How many hours can you surf before replacing or recharging them?
You must be the grandchildren's idol with these boats.

Hi Alessandro, runtime is from 5 to 8 hours depending on throttle control, which is great for demonstration days, or long walks along the canal. Capable of towing small rowing boat and 2 adults at good walking pace.
    Cheers Colin.

That's a lovely looking craft Colin, what's the length and beam dimensions please. I have in my possession a hull which I was given a while ago, the lines are similar, just searching for ideas of superstructure etc.
    Regards,

    Chris

Hi Chris, Caroline is 5 foot 3 inches over all, beam is 1 foot 5 inches. Draft is 3.25 inches.
She will quite happily tavel with a 12 inch swell but looks at her best if less than 4 inch swell.
    Cheers Colin.

Doodle, check out Stephen T's harbour, he has a similar one but a little shorter.
    Cheers Colin.

    Added to the list.
