I have not been busy with the Wee Nip forum for a while seeing I was working on the Sea Commander. Now that is finished (just waiting on the weather to improve before giving it a good trial) I have decided to put the Nip into dry dock and give it a good overhaul.
My racing performance has been pretty ordinary, so am needing to do something with the boat short of a winged keel or a hidden propulsion unit.
I have removed 3 layers of paint today and am almost ready for the primer but was wondering whether, with the flush deck models that you have put up, there are any issues with the rules and regulations? Also the sails which are not set with pockets in some instances.
While we are only a social club, we do sail them exclusively and I do not want to tread on too many toes. Or do I?
Again tnx fer comments, its nice to share our experiences and hopefully encourage new blood into the hobby. (Young or Old) !
Having not yet posted in the "Forum" department as a newbi to the website I am just testing how the "comment, share and post" selections work and how they interact with the "Forum" and the "Boat Habour" etc. - any advice would be kindly received !.
Just one final comment on the Wee Nip - even with just rudder only, its forgiveing, satisfying and connvenient plus with "artistic licence" its a great project to learn all about sailing, materials, design and how to have fun.
Well done to designer Graham Bantock
Enjoy
Phil
Tnx fer comments re interest in the Wee Nip, I must admit that "Uni" rigs do appeal to me.
Since I resurrected an old "Mickey Finn" a few years ago , I also fancied a Laser and managed to acquire one last year - but in terms of grab and go fun sailing, more often than not its the Wee Nip !.
Am really enjoying the website and thanks again for the comradeship !
Thanks Ken for the information about the bermudan rigged Abington Park Wee Nip. A very attractive little boat, I can see how she must appeal to a lot of people.

If Boris gets his way and we have a no deal Brexit and there is the chaos and delays in getting medicines into the country that they are saying, I and hundreds of others are kept alive by supplies from a German company.
Sorry, shouldn't let politics interfere with a forum like this, but they could interfere with me in a matter of weeks.

It's the simplicity of the cat (single sail) rig that appeals to me. Knowing how complicated it is to change sails on our DragonForce 65s, the idea of just taking one mast out and replacing it with another and just a mainsheet to connect up, really appeals.
Looking at the Wee Nip, I can't help thinking 'What a sensible boat'
Simple, no frills hull and cat rig. No need for any standing rigging. Minimal running rigging. Mast and sail could be replaced instantly with larger or smaller rig. None of the complications of so many other yachts. Full marks for simplicity.
Like you said Nerys-

😁 It's addictive ain' it? 🤔
BTW: Do five Wee Nips add up to a Wee Dram?? 😋

What a lovely colourful flotilla, it almost inspires me to build a Wee Nip for myself. A member of my club has just acquired one, so It will be interesting to see how she sails.
