did anyone turn up?

Got it, I must admit I have not driven past the first roundabout for a while, normally take Oakhurst way, I can see the water now, it is on the new road into the housing estate, parking may well be an issue as well as a problem if a boat breaks down unless someone can bring a rubber dingy of sorts, I have just managed to get the Sea Commander up and running, having painted the hull by hand, not 100% finished but enough to sail, if I bother to go, as there are several questions that need to be answered, like is the original organiser going to turn up?, who owns the body of water? does he have permission to sail on the water, unless these are answered then I will continue to use Coate water boating area, as it is weed free and only 3ft deep.

I dive past this area every day and there are 2 bodies of water either side of the road with a footbridge over them. The water is not very big (certainly a tiny fraction of the size of Coate water). if you use the map and go to satellite view you can see the water. My only concern is there is little or no parking in that area so might be a bit of a walk?

Well, no reply from Penfold63, no response to my email or the private message sent, even though I live only 5 miles away from the location, I have no idea where it actually is, I drive through that area quite often but have never seen a large body of water, so what to do? I don't fancy being Billy no mates.

My sentiments as well, I did send an email to Chris some two weeks ago, I will send him a private message, but he has not replied to my email so I may not get any response, it is not too bad for me as I only live 5 miles or so from the venue, but without a time and anyone else it will not be much fun

Time is approaching for this event.If you look on google maps
you will see a huge housing development,a farm,etc,etc.
cannot locate actual pond.
If this event is to work,we need to know exactly how to get there.

what a great idea! wish it wasn't so far, so anyone can turn up with an rc boat, but its a race, like a drag race? what's the format, I know its informal, but I'm wondering how it works, just draw lots to race, could be elec against ic, scale against, well anything! sounds like a load of fun👍 I'm interested....😉

it is not at Coate water but at a place called Tadpole pond (or lake) which is North Swindon, click on the map on the first post and it will show the location, I am hoping Penfold 63 will repost and confirm everything soon as the date is fast approaching, I have managed to get the Lloydsman tug ready for the event, but it won@t be winning any races 😆

Please can someone give a definitive meeting point location?

Sorry looked at March 30th not April the 30th anyway it is immaterial as I have just seen the date as 31st March on the original post on this thread which is a Saturday which is great as I should be free, and I believe I am correct at saying this is at Tadpole lake just North of Swindon, even closer to me.

Having read this assortment of messages my questions are ......

1 is this a rerun of the 2016 event at Coate Water to be held at the same venue ?

2 is it definitely to take place on March 31st ?

3 Will there be cheerleaders ?

April 30th is on a Monday ?

Can you confirm the date is the 30th April which is a Friday, also the time, as if in the morning and on the 30th I have a previous appointment and cannot make the morning, a bitter blow as Coate Water is my sailing venue.

Not far for me to travel and I should be able to get along there.

It's about time I showed my face at the water again !
