King Lear Model Boat Club would like to invite model boaters to our Friends & Family Day on Sunday 26th July 2015 starting at around 10:00am.

This day is in memory of one of our founder members, Terry Watson who passed away last year. All funds raised on the day will go the Prostrate Cancer Research as requested by his widow Kath.

All model boaters are welcome for an informal and friendly event where like minded owners of model boats can get together
so bring a boat and have a sail.

There are toilet facilities in the Country Park and we hope to hold a BBQ on the day as well as hot drinks.

There are however two pubs within two miles of the Country park where 'pub grub' is available.

A fee of ยฃ2.50 for parking is payable to an unmanned machine, so the correct change is required.

We are hoping to hold a raffle on the day and to have a steering course competition for a small fee and a prize for the winner.

Can I first say that this is sad news as going to Burton for this event has been an annual pleasure. I wish to thank Pete for all his hard work over the years and wish him well for the future. if plans can be put in place King Lear Model Boat Club hope to keep this unique event alive. I first need to contact our local authority to see if we can host this event on our lake and hope to let you know soon if we can and to give dates etc. Some of you will know our waters as you attended a few years ago when we hosted this event when the lake at Burton had too much weed.

I hope you will continue to support this event which will still be based firstly around Fireboats and other vintage model boats. Watch this space for further information.

    HI Greg

In the legal sense it is not a club as we don't have a committee, rules etc etc. All we point out to people is that there is no club insurance, so they need to have their own to sail anywhere. We are a group of likeminded boaters who like old boats and want to share our passion. The focus is a website showing photo's of 'members' baats and links to other websites of interest. We also have a forum to discuss the same.

What we are saying is that if you wish to sail, you must have your Iown insurance as the club does not have insurance cover.

I understand from a committee member of the BMPRS that you cna join them and have insurance cover for ยฃ10.00.

    I hope this clarifies this.

    HI Dave

Can I put your mind at rest, we are not asking you for your details. All we are asking for when you join is for your name and photo's of your boats. We ask that you have your own insurance for when you go to show/meetings but we are not asking to see your insurance details but that you confirm that you have insurance as the club does not provide insurance. There is no joining fee. We are setting up a members page where we will put a photo of you with one of your boats. We are also trying to set up a forum so you can post whatever you like and keep in contact with other members about shows etc that you are attending. Our aim is to keep vintage boats alive and give members somewhere to exchange information etc all in one place. if you do not already have insurance you can get insurance by joining the BMPRS for ยฃ10.00, the MPBA for a similar sum, the BMFA for ยฃ16.00 for non-flying insurance and various other places. if you are going to the Funday at Burton tomorrow, you can have a word with me there.

The email box that pops up is for you to complete which will then email us to the clubs email address.

    Take a look at this
    Vintage Model Power Boat Club

The main focus of the club Is about older models of boats which are powered In any form such as some early models were Rubber, Steam and Clockwork and later on they where Glow, Diesel, Petrol and Electric. Our goal Is to get together with other like minded modellers and help the models of yesteryear to continue to be enjoyed and to keep these models alive.
We are a group of people who meet at some shows and events to get together with our models and have a bit of fun. You do not have to attend meetings that other members do, although It would be good to see your boats on the water or on our club stand. Members In the different regions of the UK could arrange to meet at meetings/shows In their own region.
We do not have any club water as most of us are In other model boat clubs. Anyone can join this club, all we ask Is that you have Insurance of some sort which covers you at meetings/shows and we also would like you to send us photos of your model and a description of It for the club website.

    The Models

The models should be scratch built from a plan or built from a kit or a model that has been ready built by a manufacturer of the
vintage type of model which Is no later than 1980. If It's a kit, scratch built or restored after the above date this will be ok but It
must be the type of model which would have been or still Is powered. We are also happy to have models that are from
reproduction kits of pre 1980 models.

    HI all

Just a few days to go before this great event takes place. if you're interested in old/classic/vintake model boats then this is the event for you. A great lake, people, atmosphere what more could you want?
The Vintage Model Boat Company will be there with his range of wooden model boat kits which includes baost from the Aerokits and Yeoman range.

Heres a few of photo's from last years event from the indoor display and there was a lot more on the lake.

    Regards,
