Hi Doug, I have a sneaky suspicion you ain't German and I ain't American ? but I have more than once stated I have an exceptionally long ego, so I thank you for you nice comments I managed to get the loan of an Acetylene welder and now hopefully can weld my trailer frame together. I'll post pictures as I go along

It was my profession I was a metal polisher and subcontracted within a plating shop so I had free range for the plating. My clients were owners of Concourse de Elegance cars they exhibited at Pebble Beach CA their demand was still is perfection on restoration. I ran a two man business for 8 years during that time I did my boat parts and as I believe I mentioned still have 31 pieces of polished brass to be plated + 100 screws the quotes I have range from $600 - $1200 I am retired on a fixed income so the $600 would be a stretch for me but may well do it. In the meanwhile I am building a 1/4 scale trailer just getting ready to weld the aluminum frame. I have spring steel for the double axle trailer leaves. I'll post a build log as I go.
FYI there is a company that produces a chrome process name something like plug and plate for $39 for small like 1/10 1/8 scale it works but it will never look the same as my parts or any professional plater process, stands to reason $39 - $600 !

Ok! lets start again
I'm David AKA Da Glider Guy.
New on the block with an ego nine mile wide, so don't be surprised if I make flattering comments about my skills ! Told ya! swollen head.
Any how, old as dirt but still enjoy building what ever my eyes divert too boats/cars/planes I just like to create models.
My first boat was a F/G hull with a Taplin Twin diesel. It resides in a lake Goffs Park Crawley I believe. My next; commissioned by my boss, a replica of his South Coast One yacht with full interior chart table galley beds toilet ect. I got a 100 UK Pounds.
My next an ambitious model of Harold Underhill's Zulu Type fishing vessel.
If any of you Brits were around back then members of the Hove model club, one of those members won the model engineers award at Earls Court! Anyhow his comment was mine would have beaten his, his was bread and butter built, mine was to the plans included galley and fish pens.
Unfortunately I tried to copy full size ballast and used bird cage sand.
In the Hove lagoon it sailed away - Oh! so nice๐
Oops gust of wind caused a list - sand shifted๐ค
I had a new suit on at the time - Hell its my boat sinking - waded and out brought it back.
I can not recall whatever happened to the boat. The last time I recall seeing it was in Burgess Hill Sussex.
My next boat a Century Sea Maid 1/4 scale kit.
Built the model but I did not like the deck - so out of scale. Ripped it apart and re built the model.
Made a 1/4 scale trailer - exhibited at 2002 AMA show Pasadena, won first place trophy + $300.
My latest boat has been on and off since 2006 - had it finished didn't like it - rebuilt.
In fact have done that twice. Finally the coronavirus had me finish it, as far as financial cost will allow. There are still 31 pieces of brass to be chrome plated.
I decided to compliment it by building a 1/4 scale 5ft trailer from full size plans. Depending on cost of custom made rims it will be tandem axle with leaf springs, scale working winch, tires are from a 1/8th scale Mercedes Benz car which equate to 16" full size trailer wheels.
They have rubber composite white wall tires with a scale tread.
I have started the frame, 3/4x3/4 aluminium channel, and I am about to pick up 0.05 spring steel, for the leaf springs.
I'll post progress, David.
