Thanks for the link it's useful to see the pictures when trying to work out how to fit stuff. The weight balance you have looks to be more rearward than I was expecting so will bear that in mind when doing the rudder linkages so I leave room for the batteries to go there.
Thought about brushless as I think it would make it a fun boat, would be interesting to see yours go. But as it would have cost money I decided it would be a bit over the top for the target users. Some sink tests with one of my scavenged motors wedged into the hull showed a pretty good acceleration, on 4s lipo to replicate something close to rated motor voltage.

Got hold of an unstarted kit. Sold by most model shops as a good beginners boat. But will take some skill to convert to RC. The daughters are helping build It and It should make a fun little boat for them to play with.
Plan to use magnets to hold top and bottom hull sections together. A foam gasket will be formed to ensure the whole boat Is water tight. Will then have good access to the RC gubbins. Motors willl be brushed allowing the pair to be parallel on one ESC. The motors are scavenged from an old motorised wing mirror.

Very good kit, laser cut, RC ready, builds into a nice light model. Modest power setup result in a quick sport boat. Steers very well. (Motor: KEDA KB20-40-15L 3800KV) (ESC: EZ-RUN 18A ) (8/10)

Simple model built with my daughter when she was 6. Model very much enhanced by a home made steerable Kort nozzle, turns within its own length. Robust and low windage relative to its displacment, good for a little girl learning. (Motor: std 540) (ESC: SP-6 Hitec) (8/10)
