Thanks you all for your help, I think I get the picture
The tx I intend to use will be a very simple basic one no bells and whistles.
The boat will not have a rudder, steering via motors only.
I would woukd like a setup of two stick tx left stick for forward and reverse / speed.
With right stick controlling steering via motors.
In this case what is the simplest/ best configuration.

OK thanks for all the responses.
I should have said more about the operational use of the RC.
I would like to run the two motors independently to steer the boat ie no rudder, doth motors on straight running and left or right motor for turns.
I will probable us a spectrum 6 tx and rx.
