As I said I had only seen the idea in use. This is very useful information.
My boats have always been quite small but I am currently building the MMM Dawnlight and when finished Iβll have a go at making the straps as described πππ

I have not used this method myself but it looks effective. Two broad straps formed into loops, length to suit the drop into the water. One round the bow and the other round the stern. Lower away and then remove straps. I saw this done at the Southport pond and it worked well.

My thanks for a very enjoyable and entertaining quiz. I had to research many of the answers and in doing so improved my knowledge of sailing and maritime affairs. Excellent!!

There is a firm called Modelu based in Bristol who 3D print figures. Not the cheapest but excellent quality. If you get in touch with Alan Buttler I am sure he could sort something out for you.

Would agree itβs not cheap but your Β£9 entry fee gives you a ticket that you can use for a year.
Take into account that you donβt have to pay for parking if you visit the museum or use the cafe then itβs not too bad. It is a fascinating place to visit, well worth attending the conservation talks which take place daily (I think).

Is it worth trying eBay? I bought some passengers for my Krick Felix.
They are horribly painted but once primed and repainted they are quite acceptable

Can anyone advise me where to search for plans for a rc model narrow boat 40-50β long. Riverside Models used to offer a laser cut kit that appeared to look good, but are not trading anymore. Any relevant info would be helpful. Regards. Terrry Ault.

Amazing info, thanks so much.
That explains how I could afford the boat but not the RC gear.

π Sea Hornet price

My first ever attempt at building a βRCβ model boat was in 1972 with an aerokits? Sea Hornet.
I fitted it with an ED marine diesel but at the time could not afford the RC gear. I seem to remember that a single channel transmitter was around Β£16 and I was earning Β£70 a month!
I see that SLEC offer an updated kit for Β£80 and I am very tempted to revisit those early building days.
I am very curious about how much the first kit would have cost back then and wondered if anyone would have that information?

π Parts list for Joffre

I have the instructions for the Caldercraft Joffre from many years ago if an electronic copy would be of use. Unfortunately I am away until next Thursday so wouldnβt be able to deal with it until then.
Let me know if this would be of any use.
