well with now a fleet of boats and retirement upon me at last and all the other distractions I have got the final bottom of the boat painted, I have gone with the original red seems bit bright but it will mellow the next is make sure my boat cradle doesn't rub and start painting the black am I right in going with flat black over satin gloss

This part of the rebuild is causing me some confusion on the original boat the boat had two inlets of 2.5mm size quite small ether side of the prop tube just back from the prop having replaced the bottom of the boat ,Do I go with this set up or as in another boat of a same make its been put through the keel then I have the problem of length of intake I have the esc and the motor to have water too and does the 2.5 size give me enough water

    Hi Stephen T
You need to keep the pipes fairly straight and short to avoid air locks so a side exit is good. As you already have a hole at the side then it would seem sensible to use this reduced to the size of your tube. I use silicon bath sealer to waterproof the joint with the hull.

    Hi Stephen T
If your model has one prop then you can use one water scoop inlet and 2.5mm will be fine. My Sea Queen uses such an arrangement and I feed the inlet to the ESC first then to the motor and exit the water via a pipe to the hull side above water level. It is important that the scoop is in direct line with the prop so that it is able to capture the water at pressure. My exit produces a jet of water about 2" long so plenty of cooling power. If your model had two props then two scoops would be good in case one prop ceased working. I use silicon tube to interconnect - with cable ties holding the tube to the pipes.

Most of my boats with water intakes have been from 4mm tube set not too far behind the prop.

well this is certainly being a mammoth task the hull is put back together the mid wall towards the stern replaced also, funny thing who ever made this boat used hardwood for all the square framing and that was fine so now we have been sealed and primmer put on,Then I can move onto rubbing down the rest and prime the rest at last
I,ll temp fate and say progress at last

well its very cold here well gave up with the shed and moved indoors with a tray and small files to clean up all the white metal parts from Vintage model works, nice set of parts those I have extra off can use on my other aero boats. on the ones that came off I know its a daft question but they have a 12 Ba set in the base of each one with a small net I assume these have been drilled and glued in is that the case

Isnt it strange how you start what you think is a small rebuild and paint job then you open up that can of worms (woodworm) in this case, you review the task in front of you and say to yourself, yep no problem mmmm famous last words.
still when its completed Westward you will have immense satisfaction and a good story for your fellow clubmates.
I would never would had thought that a model boat could develop woodworm.
l will keep an eye on my wooden boats l have stored in my shed.

Well the start on this build, Or should say major refit still acquiring the parts from the castings and replacement windows from vintage model works to its new power unit and speed controller and the whole subject of putting in a pump to assist the cooling of the Esc, one question what does one fix the ruddel and water intake in with do you put silicone round or something else
