Hi Steve,
I first ran across DXF format drawings in the Designer (Corel) 2D CAD programmes, successor to their original DSF format. Then later with MS Visio.
Any half decent CAD programme, even the freebies?, should be able to export drawings in DXF format, or even PDF!
Cheers Doug 😎

Thank you. I think your other alias should be Professor Calculus. What do you think?

Hi steve,
A .DXF can be created by any CAD program. The 3D CAD is required for .stl files. This is possible with him. The DXF can also be used for laser technology or even if you have a cutting plotter.
I'm learning a 3D CAD, it's a completely different approach than 2D.
Let's see what I can conjure up then! Handyman greetings Michel-Cl.
PS I just got stuck with my old 2D CAD program

Hi Michel-Cl.
I am a 3D printer and use stl files of a design to convert to g.codes for the printer.
I have little knowledge of the CAD side of things. Where does a DXF fit into this please?

Hello everyone,
Thanks to Steve's pictures, I have now drawn the elements in CAD.
Fortunately, I found a private individual who can cut these parts cheaply for me with a laser. If someone would like to have a DXF of it, he can contact me.
I'll take a picture of the laser parts later and download the pictures here.
Bonsoir Michel-Cl.

Hi Michel-Claude
The parts are 5mm thick, so very firm and durable.

Please send my regards to Tintin

Hi Bill
I might try a contour gauge next time.
The plans are my latest project.
1/24 scale 77' Elco, based on PT-34. It's a semi kit with a fibre glass hull and vac formed cabin and gun turrets.
The hull is one of Rob Fowler's (rob4boats). I've had several of his now, two of which are in my harbour - the HDML and MASB.
I'm very pleased with the finished models.

Hello Cormorant!
I would have one request: How thick are the wooden parts?
The idea with the adjustment is awesome.

Hey DWB!
What you don't get, make yourself! Have been looking in Europe. . . forget it.
Very suitable for motor boats but for sailing ships, the scissor jacks are popular and variable!
Good luck, Michel-Claude

Bill, They are relisted now. Just do a search for "Universal Model Boat Stand". Sadly, he won't ship to the US, so I'm out of luck.
So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

I made my own some years ago, its the same principle as the one you have and its really versatile, fits most hulls. You can see another set of holes for small hulls

Hi Steve.
Good spot,and a worthwhile purchase.
I have just had a look and there sold out but will keep looking.
Have you ever thought about buying a Contour Guage also available on EBay or Amazon.
Fits exactly to the shape of your boat hull, then transfer to the wood.Sorry if I’m teaching Granny here.
Also the plans to the left of your new stand look interesting??

Boat Stand

I have just started a new project and one of the first necessities is a boat stand.
I normally make them, but despite what tools I use I can never get the shape anywhere near the profile of the hull.
A search of the internet revealed
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274864792218?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
This one is for a large boat, but they also do medium and small.
Your own base plate is required but this gives more flexibility depending on the length of the hull.

Many of you may be aware of this, but it's a new one on me, so I thought I would pass the information on.
