Thanks very much for all the information. From that, I'm inclined to think it is an older kit. There are brass fittings and the planking is a mahogany colour, though some planks are darker than others. There is a price ticket on the box which also looks old, it is round with a fancy pattern on it and in the centre, in small letters, 139.99, our price, 69.99. I paid ยฃ68 for it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to starting it, but I'm forcing myself to finish the barge first.

    Cheers, Nerys

Hi Nerys is it a plank on frame kit? If the planks are brown mahogany then it is probably an original. The other newer kits have gone over to a white wood planking. Splits in the wood tend to look a bit dried as well.

Fittings in brass also make it an older kit as in quite a few newer fittings have been substituted for laser cut wood.

    Good luck with it.

The site from billingboats shows a new version of the modell that was released in the 2020's. This one is only available in the Netherlands. The original box is no longer available and I don't know when it was first released.

Whilst cruising in the Bay of E, I recently saw an old Billings kit of a 'Frisian Tjalk Skutsje' at a sensible price, so I bought it. It arrived today, it's in the original box and is complete as far as I can tell
. It's all wood of course and a lot of it is either not cut at all or as in the case of the frames, only partly cut out. Now, I know I've been beefing about lacking the energy to finish the auxiliary Thames Barge that's on the stocks, but I'm hoping that the liking I have for Dutch barges will enthuse me into getting on and doing things once more. If anyone can tell me how old this kit is, I'd be grateful.

    Cheers, Nerys
