Thanks brightwork…
There she sits, with all her gear in it. Ron, all her gear and ballast sit low in hopes of preventing a “ bobbing boat “ scenario. I spent a good year or so following you guys looking for tips and suggestions. I came up with a note book full of them. The only things to add are some trinkets.

On the small water test in the pool, did it set verily well, steady, not rocking of bobbing like a cork? If so, good, if it bobbed and rocks, then in my opinion the model needs a bit more ballast. Possibly when you add the batteries it will steady it.

Thanks Gentlemen,
nothing like a glass of your favorite whiskey, some good Pink Floyd and being tested on a project that could turn into fire starter in a heart beat. 😁

I started off with few pounds of stainless ball bearings... all I had, but not enough. I purchased a few bottles of copper BB's and just started spreading them out and then 2 part epoxied them in place. Once that cured, painted inside the hull Matt black. If I saw a shiny Spot, I had water where I didn't want it.

Impressive build for first time. May your boat get plenty of work.👍

What ballast is inside the hull?

Some of us use BB shot; HO train car weights; lead shot; recycled materials from skeet shooting ranges. You glue shot in place, or put in small plastic bags and secure when ballast is done.

Good day,
My first build that’s coming near completion. The kiddie pool was used to balance it port to starboard as well as stern to the pointy end. It’s 36” o.a.l. and weighs more than a case of beer. I do have lights in the upper and lower deckhouses as well as the deck house over the “ engine room “ and the spot light too.
I’m eager the get around to the sea trials as I have never done an RC or scratch built boat before. I know she floats and I want to see it go and hopefully come back too !
A 2 year project of working on it when time allowed and family life didn’t get in the way….
