Yes, that is a work of art, as mine is a 34 inch looks like mine will have to be the same size > 😟
Saying that, there is absolutely nothing wrong with yours.

these pics show more detail, this hook was made by hs93 for his 3 foot boat, its a work of art 👍
one pic hook is locked, the other the hook is open, the mechanisn can be seen on the side, pull the handle and the hook is released, mine is nowhere as good as this, and its so small, beautiful!

I think it looks very realistic, a nice bit of modelling 👍
More photo's would be appreciated.

Just realised alan. You need to see the other side of the hook so you can see the mechanism. I'll post pics tomorrow.
HI alan. The handle when pulled releases the hook, the rear bracket is sprung to absorb the towing slack. The spring is inside the body. The handle does work on my hook, I started fitting the internal spring but had a reality check 😀 thinking why the heck am I doing that! !. I did however mount the hook with bolts so I can tow with it. The track is made simply from plastic, looks convincing when painted and a bit of weathering. Whilst my hook is made from brass and soft soldered together it could be just as good made from plastic. The bolts are the best bit being ba 12 and ba 10. I think they make it look realistic. Model train guys use these.
Hope That helps! Paul

Think you will find it is a quick release for the tow hook

I have enlarged and studied the photo's but still can't work out what the handle/lever is for 😯

Many thanks to you both for the response
PeteD, I don't think I need to put you to any trouble , as the photo's pmdevlin has posted will do me just fine.
pmdevlin, many thanks for the photo's of the tow hook they are just what I wanted, also like the brass edges to the steps.
Thanks again to you both.

HI Alan, here is the towhook I recently made for my four footer, taken from original Vosper plans, with a little bit of license!

Wondered If some kind soul would post a couple of close up photo's of the fire boats tow hook so that I can have something to go on when I make one.
