Never heard of Taycol before n was interested in its history. Quick google I found the company web site. Very interesting and from the 1800’s. Also found places specializing in selling them. I didn’t find ships or submarines for sale. They do need oil on commutator badly to last longer n cause less interference with radios. Newer motors are around but if you want old time authentic stuff it’s out there. I went from DC motors to AC long ago fir weight n power fir aircraft models. Guys check out the company web site I took a snap of the google results

Ah that's the magic black box which was designed and built by (RNinMunich), Doug when he rebuilt my Taycol Supermarine.

Good Morning Colin
Thank you for your reply and advise, interestingly on your Dad's boat how do you get the reversing to operate.

Good morning Mike, I like your thinking, but I would try an enclosed motor as the Taycol needs oil on the Brushes every time you use it, which has the side effect of throwing oil into the hull. I say this as I run a Taycol Supermarine in a Sea Commander that my dad built. Something like an MFA MARLIN would give you all the power you need and last, running on a 12v 7ah sla battery would give you long run times.
Cheers Colin.

Hi Guys
Thank you for your reply.

https://www.vintagemodelplans.com/collections/leisure-craft-boat-plans/products/italian-designed-cabin-cruiser-scale-5-8-1ft-35-tarpon-full-size-printed-plan-for-radio-control

I have given a link to the plans that I have, the bulkheads are currently being CNC cut to aid my build!!!!, and it had been my intention to try and replicate as best I could with same era motor and Taycol was the one that came to mind.

Thank you Howard for your offer, but at present old style is my thoughts.

Thank you Colin and Will also any further info from the information I have give above would be appreciated.
Regards
Mike👍

Steamer, I'll have to check, but I think that I still have a Taycol Standard motor amongst my bits and bobs.

I'll check and get back to you if you haven't already got something sorted.

Mike, give us more details on the boat it's for, with pictures if possible.
Then I am sure help will be forthcoming. I have many vintage motors which could serve the purpose better and more efficient than the taycol you requested.

I have a lot of DC motors 300-600 sized. They were fir mostly aircraft but a motor is a motor. The larger esc fir cars can do DC motors n accommodate liPo n micas batteries too. I used that combo with a 600 sized motor on my Aluka sub. It isn’t the length of boat as much as weight to determine motor. Just pay postage I can send a couple in a box
