Mast and davit assembly for 34" CTender
Mast and davit assembly for 34" CTender
I have attached drawings of bits made and picture of assy so far, it is still in course of constuction and looks a bit of a mess as I used plumbers flux to solder and it is not yet all cleaned off.
The drawing shows rigging of TCW threaded thro' small holes in brass but I have just made slots at top of mast and cross tree as this is easier.
The mast is attached to hinge plates glued to cabin roof and can be folded down for transit or storage.

If you are good with soldering, you could use brass, which is very light. HS93 on this forum did his in brass, its probably the best I have seen, light and strong, and it folds down like the original! Hopefully he sees this post and puts up some pics for you to see.
Here is a pic of mine, once painted it looks fine, refurb 3 is on its way, and a new mast that folds down is on the way!

I made a mast for my 34" crash tender. I copied from the original aerokits plan, plus what I could find from the archives on this site. You can view a picture of my model at an early stage of construction showing the mast at http://www.creweanddistrictmodelboatclub.org.uk/html/crash_tenders.html. if this link doesn't work you can visit the website and look under Picture Galleries, Crash Tenders.
Good luck

I need to build a mast. Most builders have used straight sections for the 2 lower legs which sit onto the top of the cabin, but some builders use legs with a bend in them part way. Does anyone know which version is correct, or were different versions used on different build versions of the boat?
