SEAPORT a.k.a. HENG LONG TUG rebuild

Thank you Fred, that link gives me many, many pages of resources. I hav looked at just a few before replying to you. My internet has been off for a long time, days & days. I spent hours today with my fibre connection (BELL Canada) tech here & working with my ISP Primus online tech support (in Egypt!) to get back on the air so to speak.

SEAPORT a.k.a. HENG LONG TUG rebuild

When I’m home next week if I can I’ll see what I removed n how that parts gets removed? My boat worked ok but I wanted to convert to regular RC n a brushless motor with a typical rudder Servo. It is really dusty from years of sanding on work bench.

I have same one at home in MA. It was collecting dust before I left fir west coast visit I had it apart. I’ll replace the guts with 2.4 ghz Rc when back in fe weeks. Repaint a bit n clean it. Could be a nice boat with an update n better ballasting. Let me know what your doing on yours?

SEAPORT a.k.a. HENG LONG TUG rebuild

This 24-inch "toy" tug is one of my more-recent forays into the hobby. On her maiden she listed sharply, flooded, & sank. Thanks to 2 gents sailing with me (who recovered her from the bottom) i am now in a position to refit. That black rectangular hatch covers the water ballast chamber in the lower centre of the hull. I wud like to fit a SLA (sealed lead acid) battery in place of this chamber, it's the business of removing the black chamber cover that perplexes me. Is there anyone about who has performed this operation & can therefore advise? Not sure how its fixed, but suspect the 4 blobs are hotmelt on top of screw heads. Some Dremel digging at the edge suggests it might be glued (styrene?) for water tightness.
