Motor cuts out

Hi Ron,
Don't see your problem!?
Your registered user name is 'Ron' and RonB's is 'RonB'.😉
Not to mention that you are Vice Admiral and RonB is PO 1st Class so where's the confusion?
Cheers, Doug 😎

This is getting to be confusing. I too am Ron B and a member since 2016 but when I sign a post generally I do it Ron🇨🇦 But, if I forget might the other Ron B maybe add an identity mark.

Ron,
To help us to help you please post details; manufacturer, model/type number of the ESCs you have tried. Photos of all the ESCs, hi res so that we can see the maker and type number and any programming switches.
Most modern ESCs need to be taught by the TX which throttle stick position corresponds to; max forward, neutral and max reverse. Did you do this?
Also check if there is a switch to select type of battery; usually NiMh or LiPo.
This affects the pre-set per battery type Cut-off voltage setting of the ESC.
The wrong setting here could cause the ESC to cut off prematurely. The battery now OFF LOAD will recover slightly and the motor will run again - but only briefly as the load reapplied will cause the battery voltage to drop again. Eventually the motor will not run at all.
Another point-
If the ESC is designed primarily for RC Car use it will have a Brake function, active when going from forward to reverse, which you need to deactivate for use in a boat.
Check your ESC instructions for these points and let us know.

Motor cuts out

Hi Chris,
"Did you program the ESC?"
That was my first thought, but as you say without knowing precisely which components are being used it's impossible to diagnose the problem remotely.

The motor and ESC combination is fine as the 6V refers to the BEC. I take it you bought these specifically for the model?

What about the Tx and Rx, have you used them with any other models and if so did they work Ok? Did you bind the Rx with the Tx?

What voltage and type of battery have you tried? Was it/they fully charged? Did you program the ESC?

Lots of questions I know but we need to know the basics to help. Too many variables at the moment with trying different motors, ESCs and batteries. Need to try one thing at a time to identify the problem.

Motor cuts out

Well I have tried a combination of ESCs and motors and different batteries from 7.5 up and I am still getting the same problem. Could it be the receiver or transmitter lock. Pluss I am also getting motor surge,

I will have a look in to that, thanks for the tip.

I looked at the motor specs, and it appears that you may be a bit mismatched. That motor draws up to 35 amps, and it appears to want 7.4 volts minimum. You indicated that you have tried a different ESC, but was it a 7.4 volt or greater unit?

Motor cuts out

I am restoring my second RAF High speed launch and I am having a problem with the motor. At the moment it only has one motor and prop, I am using a Leopard Hobby LC3536-960kv brushless motor with a Marine30amp 6v water proof ESC and an E fly transmitter and receiver. During testing the motor cuts out after a couple of minuets then if I relies the throttle and re-apply, it runs again for a couple of seconds and the cuts out. I have tried the motor with a different ESC and it would not run at all. Any help greatly appreciated any ideas?
