    Hi Firefighter

I have a old friend Dean Van Straaten, he was based at London Fire Brigade H.Q, he may have retried now, if not you could see if he will help, say Fred Ellis from when we used to be in the B.S.A.C.

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

    Hi Firefighter

Just done a quick Goggle on her and it looks as if T Nielsen & Co did the restoration on her in 2013, see if they can help

    Hello Dave,

Thanks for the response. I know about the Massey Shaw Trust. I have been in contact with them concerning the plans they sell online. I sent the link for the plans to the company I had chosen to laser cut the parts for me. Unfortunately there was not enough detail for them to work with. They suggested looking for a pre-fabricated barge hulls similar to the Massey's hull. As I am a complete beginner to scratch building I felt that a Massey Shaw project was going to be too difficult for me at the moment. A pity really, because as a retired fireman with an interest in the history of the British fire service that boat is particularly interesting to me because of the trips it and it's firemen crew made to the beaches of Dunkirk from 27th May to the 4th June 1940 to help with the evacuation with the British Expeditionary Force and other allied troops. Following Dunkirk the Massey went on to fight London dockside fires during the Blitz.

Sorry about the fire service waffle. Never get me started on fire service history. I could finish up boring you all to death. 😁

Can anyone help me locate a set of plans, preferably with a parts list of a civil British fireboat. I have found some plans online but they either not of a British boat or look to complicated for a novice to scratch building like me.

Although I have some workshop tools that would aid me in the cutting of parts, because of the Arthritis in both my hands I hope to use a company to laser cut the parts for me.

The boat I would most like to build is the Massey Shaw which was the London Fire Brigade built in 1935 but I am told by a laser cutting company that the available plans are not suitable in their detail for laser cutting.

I would grateful if anyone could suggest any plans.

    Greg πŸ‘
    Best regards, Greg
