Morning all.
I remember using Cascamite powder that you mixed with water.
I see you can still get it ready mixed which I didn’t realize until I just checked.

I've forgotten so much over the years ! When I got back to boat modelling after a 50 year gap I discovered some of the materials I used all those years ago, including various dopes and banana oil. Amazingly, the banana oil is still useable ! The problem is, I have forgotten what I used it for ! 😉

AHH the smell of banana oil I've gone back 65 odd years watching my dad and some of his brothers brushing in banana oil around their Mills diesel engines as fuel proofer.
Stay safe, Jim.

Good morning Doogle, that's an interesting collection.
Especially the banana oil, very useful as a solvent for Varnish and cellulose paints and lacquers. Learnt that from my grandad back in the 1950's.
Thanks for sharing your find, can't wait to see your build from found plans.
Cheers Colin.
Fair winds and calm waters,
COLIN.

Just thought it'd be interesting to show. A photo of model glues and varnish plus banana 🍌 oil that I discovered in the loft of my in law's house when we were clearing after they'd past on. He'd also left behind plan's to build the Cutty Sark. Must dig these out sometime.
