Model boating in 1958

Included in this superb footage was some of the Classic Model Powerboats that were running at that time.
This was especially interesting to me as I like to build/restore and run models like these from this time period and the slightly later 1960's period too.
Starting water cooled model engines with leather "bootlace" cords is something that I have done hundreds of times.
Sadly (?) all of my restored and rebuilt Classic Model Powerboats are now electric powered as the use of internal combustion engines are banned from most waters these days.
I really miss the time consuming "ceremony" of preparing and starting my i.c. powered Classic Model Powerboats - but have to admit that the convenience of running the same boats with electric power is a LOT easier!
