The Calypso originally was a MSCO minesweeper ship. Here are pic of the sane kit you have bashed back to its origins. Great model but I like it better as a minesweeper I served on and knew every inch of it. My uncle was my boss on it. He was Cpo and navigated while I steered. I spent 4 years on it in reserves. Then went on active on the DE1040 Garcia for two years. I’m building that ship too (5ft long) Have fun with kit.
I made the guns, big cable roller, sweep gear, life raft, radar scope on upper open deck, shield for signal lamps, rear booms, banger, washing machine. Rest were from kit. I added new nose section and wood section. The rest was the kit. I had to redo the pilot house from card stock. The basic hull, running gear and deck were from kit. Anchor wench, anchor boom and bits were from kit. I always saw that ship as the mine sweeper it was started out as. Now I found hulls that I coukd have used instead. Not as much fun to bash the kit. Kit sells for $500 if you can find one btw
Found this today $399 model expo least price I have seen in a while.
