Com-H, it might be the reason for a "terrible" reverse is caused by cavitation. I had this problem with my conventional style towboat and had to add about 3/4inch to the transom. Your Kort nozzles appear to bee too close to the transom. You might try to shorten the length of them.
Some ways to check this is to look at the transom while running 🏃♀️ in full reverse and see if the water is dipping down. Also see if there are any bubbles along the sides of the boat.

Commadore H I am not sure if any modifications I am going to make, its a work in progress thing and see as we go. Not the best way too do things and it is a break from my usual plan in advance methods but its a fun boat and I am just having fun.

I’ll be looking forward to some pix of your twin engine version. My little towboat steers really well because of kort nozzle. Kort nozzle was made by cutting off a plastic bottle. Reverse is terrible because of hull shape. Are you planning modifications?

While the Zippkits Springer was mentioned I thought I pass this on... I asked Zippkits if they could send me some thin hobby grade plywood pieces, cut-offs, etc. They sent me a selection of pieces (1/16 & 1/8 inch thick) for a very reasonable price. The pieces were usable, not small scraps. Hard to find in stores.

Thank you for the pictures!! It is so costly to get these kits shipped from Florida all the way up to Canada and imported, not to mention the difference on the dollar, that last time I ordered a few of the kits at the same time along with the 650 KV brushless Motors and of course the drivetrains so I probably have several winters of projects. You have done a very creative thing with the superstructures 👍👍👍

The Springer tug started out as a Zipkits model that I won as a prize at a boat meet. When Covid hit I needed something to play with so built the hull and replaced the superstructure with my own design. It has a single screw, 540 motor, and kort nozzle. It has operating lights and radar.
