Some of the larger more modern tugs use fenders instead of tires. These are often bolted on so on a model cement could be used avoiding the holes.

Here is a pic of the boat under construction, it is a fictional model, no real world counter part that I know of. I have 20 or 30 tires I can use around the boat, I was thinking of using rope or chain to attach them but I want to avoid drilling holes in the side. Any pics of members models would be great

Westwind, there are several ways depending upon the look you want. Are you replicating a known real boat?

Some are suspended form the gunwales or bolted directly to the sides. Suspension were often ropes but could also be cables.

Be sure the diameter if the "rope" (if you use that method) is the right size for your scale. Notice that they are often uneven, there not pretty.

I 3D print my tires. Much cheaper than the hobby shop and I get the right size and style that I need.

    Hi Westwind,

1/32! You could use waxed cotton, or thin string. tied to existing bollards.
A picture would be nice to see!

Hi all, I'm building a 1/32 tug and I'd like to put tires around it for bumpers. I'm looking for recommendations on how to hang the tires. Thanks
