Hi some more thoughts. Do not try towing from the 'bits' at the stern of the tug as you will not have any manouvreing ability. To tow you need to do it from the rough centre of the boat then the rudder can guide a towed barge where ever you want.

With a bumper at the bow she would make a good rescue boat.
It should also travel far too fast and make a spectacle of herself.

Good luck with the project as there are far too many dead serious scale model boats around! Surrounded by profound thinkers, who are basically looking for errors rather than remarking on exquisite detail.

Exquisite detail is something I have so far managed to avoid!

I agree with all, a general 'looks like' model tug but not to a prototype, it is somebody's 'Whimsy'.

Looks like it may have been noisy as well, put a hooter in with the speaker and fit a water cannon and the kids will love it!

At most this model might have a hull from another model (kit). Most of it doesn't make any sense, functios, uniformity, etc. I think that for the most part it is someone's conjecture build and serves no scale (lifelike) presentation.

Not sure DW, but looks like a scratch build to me or a blown up Dumas Jersey tug.

Actually given the dimensions I donโ€™t think sheโ€™s either Robbe or Graupner. There was one tug Iโ€™ve seen locally last year that was close to that boatโ€™s dimensions and was an older Robbe kit, but I canโ€™t remember the name. Iโ€™ll do some digging.

The rudder looks like the ones used on Robbe or Graupner boats. Iโ€™m wondering if itโ€™s a kit that has been what used to call in rc flying a โ€œkitbashโ€. One would take an airplane kit and use the parts provided to make something other than what the box art shows, a customized kit for want of a better term.

This has popped up in an online marketplace. It is a relatively distant location from me.
The boat is described as being built approx. 30 yrs ago. It is 54" long with a 15" beam.
As you can see, it lacks a lot of detail (i.e. personality). But the general design and it's size intrigue me.
I've done a little looking, but have not spotted a match to this point.
If it can be identified, and details of how it "should" be finished, I might try to strike a deal for it.
Thanking you all in advance for any info yo might provide.

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.
