If Money Was No Object

Drifting back on this subject.
Always wanted to have a go at the Nichimo 1:200 IJN Yamato with all the upgrades and also build another Sterling Emma C. Berry. Lost my first one in that damnable house fire in 2009.

Still hoping for a 1:12th scale Speedline Shannon Class Lifeboat someday.

If Money Was No Object

A nice new thought but if money were no object then why go for the model but rather have the 'model' in the boat with you?

About 30 odd years ago I went to see Malcolm Darch, in Salcombe I sailed there in a very nice large (42 foot) yacht. He is a fantastic model maker and he showed me 2 commissions he was making. They were models of a big Super Yacht billionaire size, not millionaire. They were about 5 maybe 6 feet long. One was a static model to go in the main saloon and the other was identical but fully radio controlled.
I thought afterwards that as this was an ocean going vessel, there may not be too many places to launch it.
I have several of the model boats and yachts I want, I find these days that if the owner of a model I fancy will let me have a drive, I am happy enough.

Maybe a turbine for the 1/10 scale Bluebird I put in the build blogs earlier today. For now, it stays put away.

Twin-engined SPRINGERs...much customized. No plank-on-frame stuff, thank you.

In my case, the money would not so much be spent on new kits, but a place to build them, because i
Can’t build what I already have. But I would have to add a high quality long distance trawler kit, and get my Mt. Washington and some Chris Craft cruisers on the workbench.
So many ships . . . and so little time . . .

Nothing! I'm building all the ones that I want, namely seven Faireys and a non-Fairey water-jet project.

If Money Was No Object

Hi Shipmates

If Money Was No Object and you could have any model you want what would it be ? Here is my list:-

1. HMS Ark Royal (The Audacious Class Carrier operational in the 1970's complete with Phantoms, Buccaneers and Gannets.

2. Royal Yacht Britannia

3. A County Class Destroyer

4. A Batch 3 Type 42 Destroyer

5. A Type 21 Frigate

All would have to be high quality with working lights and radar etc and be around 40 inches in length. Such models are available but few and far between.

What's your dreams ?

Cheers
