My uncle passed a few months ago. We were in Navy together years ago. He passed day after 96 birthday. He and I built the Scout. Mine got destroyed in house fire. In a week or so I’ll visit my aunt. She wants me to have his Scout. Also to sell a lot of his ships he built. He got me into model building as a kid. He built last years multi sail old ships. One kit he had took him a month to build n rig one mast. It was first time he got kit with all instructions were on a CD. He had his grandkid print it n drawings out. Could not deal with screen n not paper, old school. When I was a kid he was building airplanes. Control line or free flight with gas ( not glo) engines like O & R ones. He never got into RC just liked building. I like this pic of scout. I’ll try to add some of the things I saw like railings n paint colors. Great job on it.

2nd Meet on June 15, 2025:
We had a nice SSMBC (Florida) meet albeit a little hot. Calm water allowed our boats to make nice wakes.

I didn't get many photos, but I am posting some of Jim's American Scout as I noticed some action on this site not long ago about the Victory Ships.

Jim (recognize his launcher?) said that this was a comfortable build, especially for a Sterling kit. Out of production many years they are getting hard to find.

Yes, the SSMBC will be meeting at Lake Seminole Park at 11AM weather permitting. Let me know if you didn't get the SSMBC email. I'll get you back on (now on a different server). Lew

RodC, I'll try to get some phots and dimensions for the launcher. SSMBC member Jim made the metal part and the buyer decorated (paint...) to their liking.

Several of us have these launchers made of steel electrical conduit (1/2 & 3/4 inch). I had Jim make mine 4 inches taller as I am about that much taller than him.

Yes, wud love to see a drawing or 2- or 3-views photos of your launch cradles. Since your photos show them in two colors I assume that you guys have at least two that are the same🤔

Congratulations for the reopening of your club.
I really love the handy “launcher” you guys use set the models in the water.
Is that something you buy or you guys made them?

Finally, eight months after Hurricane Milton struck Florida and the dock repaired we (SSMBC) had our first meet since that fateful day.

The weather was great, a high of 84F (better than the usual 94F we usually have) and with no wind. About eight "captains" brought their boats after blowing the dust off of them. It was great to see the boats in action again.

Unfortunately, I only took a few photos with my phone as my camera is still packed away, but I will get more in the coming months.
