    Doug,
Our favorite local band plays that song as a regular part of their set. When they get to the "Motorboatin" line, the lead singer gives me a look and a smile. I am pretty sure he is implying that I participate in a more lewd version of "Motorboatin" than the song lyric refers to. I have no idea why he thinks that ..... ๐Ÿ™„

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Yes, there are a few of us on the board. Someone needs to keep the targets lined up.

    USS Nautilus SSN 571
BTY, I have never heard of an alcoholic sundodger. They already have torpedo juice in their veins....

    HI Shippers

Doug was in fact right - I was referring to submariners but judging by the replies I think there must be a lot of alcoholics on this board LOL

Nice to hear about the model builders - anyone built either a British R or V class boat (the bombers) ? All submarines are boats in the RN.

Submariners have a favourite saying there are "Boats and there are Targets" !!!

    Hi Peter,
You and I were both -1 year old (a twinkle in Dad's eye๐Ÿ˜‰) when that film was released.
But I remember it vaguely, having seen it many many solar orbits later on a Cable TV Old Movie channel.

Here's one to get Dave in the mood for his Sundowner๐Ÿ˜‰
    "Pontoon" by Little Big Town.
Prompted me to buy the CD after hearing/seeing this in a docu.
    Enjoy๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜Ž

Also brings to mind the old 1950 movie, The Sundowners, with Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr. Showing my age now, but I digress.

The explanation for the spelling Sundodgers makes a lot of sense, explaining a lot.

    G'day Peter,
    That's what I understand as a 'Sundowner' as well๐Ÿ‘
    'Bottoms up'. 'Down the hatch!'๐Ÿ˜‹

    Hi Ron,
It's a typo for Sundodgers (as the thread title),
In Naval terms it is a nickname for Submariners๐Ÿ˜‰
Which I'm sure is what Pat is referring to here.
It's also the nickname of many Softball teams, Lord knows why!

    So, to answer Pat's question:
Yes there are a few of us here, and I'm one of 'em๐Ÿ˜
A DKM Type 1A scale 1/72, LoA 105cm, dynamic diving only.
Soviet Akulla II, static diving. Still in the kit box.๐Ÿ˜

My father had Vascular Dementia the last several years of his life. He definitely was affected by the Sundowner effects mentioned by Ronald.

I, on the other hand, rather enjoy my evening "Sundowners" as described by peterd. I substitute a ride on my pontoon for the balcony though.
