Hi,I shall probably brace it each side with either steel, wood, brass or carbon Fibre and then if I’m not happy will go down the glass road.
The Model is made by Billing which is supplied by my Favourite supplier in the UK.
CORNWALL MODEL BOATS not sure if they ship abroad though.

Not sure just how it works but I think I would be inclined to glass it with wrap around if possible. Where do you buy models like that from as I quite like the way the frames are all precut etc. What comes with the kit?
Cheers
Ian

In the old wood boats we would sister ribs etc with a similar shaped piece of wood on each side of the brake and glue in place with through bolts. I have used epoxy successfully.

Thanks,That’s the way I shall end up doing it,Either with wood, steel,Brass or carbon Fibre.
The Rudder post only just sits on the piece that has broken by a couple of mm.👍

Broken here??
Could you use the brass tube the rudder post would pass through? If so, I suggest sandwiching it between two scrap pieces of plywood and glue this to the remaining section of the keel.

You might consider just sistering a short length of wood on both sides of the keel that overlaps the break. Not true to type but a straightforward repair that’s below the waterline so won’t be all that noticeable.

I have recently started the 1:30 scale Andrea Gail,it’s early days right now but I have managed to snap off the end of the keel where the rudder post will eventually go.
It’s 5mm Ply that is about 20mm tall but goes down to about 5mm then back up to 20mm and my fat fingers have snapped it at the narrow point.
I have tried Glueing but not strong enough to hold.
My next attempt will be to put a strip of carbon fibre each side and nut/bolt it.
Has anyone got any thoughts or tips for this as it’s quite an important part of the build.
Photo shows keel before break.
Thanks in advance
