Is this site running slow?

Maybe it is because more and more things are being DUPLICATED and shown TWICE taking up double the domain space per submission?

It’s not getting any better 👎

Is this site running slow?

Another thought on web sites running slow. When last have you cleared your browser cache, I did not think of this as it is something I do on a regular basis. In the past I have had people complaining to me that their internet is getting slower and slower, I showed them how to clear their cache and lo and behold everything starts working again.
A word of warning, you will loose your browsing history, cached data, cached images, files and auto fill data. Be careful as you could clear your passwords as well. There I’d a selection screen showing the options.

What does Stephen and the Admin say about your concerns? Have you taken your questions to them?

Is this site running slow?

OK, just upgraded to silver as a show of faith, every little helps
This site above all for me has been a place where I can drop in and read the historical posts, always finding something to read/study, I'm a magazine subscriber and treat this place similarly.
The community here is pretty good..
Well at least I didn't hit my pc with my 3lb multipurpose fixing tool while I was deep in frustration 🤔

As a site grows it will slow down.

There are two options to fix that-

Delete the historical content, this takes time and manpower

Second is to throw more power at the site, this takes money, this would mean everyone would have to chip in.

I would like to see how you would go

Ron,
As Lew and Northernflotsam have stated, our comments are not meant to be complaints. Rather, they are discussions about how others are finding the experience to be.
I love this site and, truth be told, spend too much time on it daily.
As others and I have stated, it is some degree of relief to find out others are having the same experience as me. I have cleared cache, dumped old files, rebooted, etc thinking it was my browser. Sharing information has offered a degree of relief. And, I am sure the admin is monitoring the comments and sees what we are facing with the site.

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

I ain't complaining , I add a note as I honestly thought It was simply a fault with my PC or browser. ended up being relieved as it saves me Time on trying to find a solution to a problem with the browser 🤔🤔 (he says after several re-installations of his browser software 😔😔)

I think some people are "complaining" not merely to complain but to see if others are having the same issue. There are sites that I go to that no longer exist and the search engine (Chrome, etc.) take a while to tell one that.
The fact that this is a free site (with ads) is wonderful and most of us appreciate that. So I think most loyal members are not really complaining but are concerned that something has happened to model-boats.com if the pages don't come up right away.

If you are experiencing issues with the speed of this site or other issues, please take them up with Stephen our site administrator. It does not help to solve your issues by complaining between each other. If you must complain please do it in private emails and not in the public forum where guests come and view your models.

Sometimes it is very slow and posts won't open at all from Trending but at this moment it is fine and everything opens promptly.

Another problem though I've found in Bob's Classic Boats thread is that you can't see posts over 5 months old. I knew I'd posted about the Sea Vixen before that and a search on Vixen shows the post and it being 6 months ago but I can't open it, very strange.

Michael-C, looks like I'm not the only one mentioning the slowness. I'm not complaining, just observing. I'm in the middle of creating a new web site myself. I know about issues, cost, hosting, domains, etc.
Maybe I am old school, but thanks to a friend I was able to observe the begining of the internet. Our location was one of 8 or 9 "internet" sites. Text only, it was this future "internet" starting right before my eyes! That got me started in programming.

Same here. I wonder if the site is being hosted by one of the larger companies versus being on a private PC as a server. That could be the reason for the occasional slowness.

Is this site running slow?

Yes, it is very slow.
About a month ago, I posted a comment that it appeared to be fixed.
That fix degraded quite soon.
I hate to be a whiner, but it would be great if a permanent fix was found!

DUPICATED TOPICS.

Yup - I have also noticed that this site is running very slow and takes ages to load up when trying to access anything from the Trending Topics list.

I also notice the increasing number of DUPLICATED topics - when exactly the same topic is being displayed twice under the "Trending Topics" list.

I am guessing that this duplication is just a "glitch", but I have noticed it happening more often recently.

One thing that is still happening is that topics are still very slow to open if at all if trying to access via Trending Topics.

Not a biggie as can be started via the relevant heading e.g. Build Blogs.

Today, the site is back to it's snappy response old self!
Whatever the fix for the QOD was musta had a positive effect on the rest of the site.
Or, maybe, it was a simple matter that the system was longing for a reboot?
Whatever the process was, Thank You!!

Is this site running slow?

I thought it was just my computer or my internet service.

But, YES, it has been painfully slow for the last number of days.

While it is still frustrating, I am relieved to hear that others are having the same problem ... indicating the problem isn't on my end!

Is this site running slow?

As per the title, is this site running slow? For sometime now, when I open posts or comment on them, there is often quite a delay before the post opens or my comment appears.

And sometimes, when using my tablet, the post won't open at all. Can't see it being my PC as I recently bought a new, high performance one and other forums are fine.

Anyone else experiencing this?
