My next challenge

This particular Ville does operate out of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. I have only placed the lights as given by the owner who stated I have displayed them correctly.

It is interesting that the Beamsville operates out of Tofino and tows along the Pacific Ocean and the inner water ways along the coast. They are not required to display the Red/White/Red lights.

Hi Ron. Interesting; I didn’t know the Ville class operated offshore. Does designating the two red mast lights as “RAM” lights mean they indicate Restricted Ability to Maneuver per COLREGS?

Nice!
So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Miss Jenna has red/green nav lights, its mast lights now and towing lights installed on her exhaust. Upon completion, the photos were sent to her owners and they said I got it right. They said no need to install a 360deg anchor light as it is only used at night when anchored off shore. Just a clear lenses is all that is required.

Hi Phil

Apparently these are not just to “Light Up The Night” but are the light configuration for COLREG/Marine navigation requirements for a tugboat that is in the process of towing.

The two Red lights are RAM lights said one of my contacts.

On the aft of the stack is a Yellow light which is commonly used as a towing signal.

I have been informed the barge if towed has Red/Green nav lights and White in the Aft. But if the barge is being pushed, there is an Orange light at the Front of the barge.

Rod,
That elongated box says Garmin on it.
From the Garmin website:
"The MSC 10 from Garmin is a marine satellite compass with GPS based heading sensor and a fully integrated AHRS (attitude and heading reference system) for better position in all environments including pitching in rough seas" ...

My next challenge

I have contacted the 3 owners of the Ville Class tugboats which I have modelled, asking for a photo of their boat with full lights on when towing.

The owner of Miss Jenna in Mahone Bay sent me this photo. It will be my next challenge.

Notice the two lights on the exhaust stack. Yellow and White

The light wash in the bottom of the photo is from a work light on the aft wall of the engine room wall near the double bullock.

I did an earlier post with photos (see Miss Katherine meets Miss Jenna)
