OUR NEXT PROJECTS

Wolle,

That sounds like quite a project! The Wotan may be a “small restoration” in your words, but that’s a big model to bring back to life. 😄

Please keep us informed throughout the restoration … I’d really enjoy seeing the progress and all the details along the way.

Looking forward to it!

Once I've finished the Britannia, I'll move on to the Wotan. A herring lugger. A small restoration.😁

Jumpugly this is a model for a lifetime!! it‘s a fantastic catch. I have been sailing this model with a 3.5 cc Taifun bison and it sails like a dream. I m still angry that i sold the boat but not the engine. I still have it completely re- done by a club member. I got tears in my eyes when i think about it. On top it is very hard overhere to sail this type of boats. Everything must be elctric

Hey Gang!
I scored this ancient "bucket list" kit a few days ago. It's a 1962 23' Chris Craft Holiday by Graupner. I haven't done myself a favor in a while and took the plunge. I had to, it was listed for only an hour and 30 people were watching it an 10 had it in their carts. It's 1/7th scale and will build out to 34" overall. I hope to "museum scale" this one with correct and accurate trim, upholstery, dash, etc. We'll see.
👍😉

Grüezi Chug-alone!
(Grüezi = Hello in swiss german)

Tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) the harbor will be launched.
After that comes my second daughter's wedding.
I'll be happy to photograph all the bodies for you, but please wait until next week!
I may have to take the diving exam in case the harbor sinks . . .
See you next week . . . Ciao!
Michel-C.

This painting and the congas took me two years to finish and frame — clearly proof that I can’t sit still for long. I always have to be tinkering with something… keeps me out of trouble, or so I’m told.

Mike:
You sound remarkably like my wife 😂 — she refers to my models as “the other wife.”
Like yourself and many of the chaps here, I was bitten by the modelling bug at the age of 11… and really, why should one stop now? I dare say when they finally bury me, I shall have an X-Acto in my hands.

Hey Presson
I’ve got the Ulysses sitting on my “to-do” list too — gorgeous tug. Since I’ve never built an R/C fishing boat before, this out-of-production beauty practically jumped out at me and whispered, “Build me…” So now I guess I don’t have a choice — resistance is futile.

Trev,
Thank you for the kind words.
This is after some significant "reconstructive surgery".
Now, it is just details ... it might be a while. But they'll come.
Dave
So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Hi Dave,
She looks great already!
She is a beautiful vessel!
I shall be following your progress closely!
I think you will be setting the yard stick for my build👍
After looking at your vessel she might be moving up on my build list.

Trev,
That is an impressive "to do" list!
I have a Ulises that I picked up that needed lots of TLC.
It will be fun watching your progress on these 3.

Hi Julian,
On my Ways I have the Chris Craft Commuter, Chris Craft Triple Cockpit and The Ulysses.
I am anxious to start the Commuter.
I know I am a glutton for punishment. The mahogany boats require a lot of work to achieve the proper finish.
the Typhoon took two coats of epoxy and 14 coats of varnish.
I could have shortened the process by applying more coats of epoxy.
I am on my 5th coat of epoxy on the Runabout. Time will tell how many more finish coats I will need😮
Sorry for the picture quality🙄

OUR NEXT PROJECTS

Looking around, I’ve noticed that most of us have several kits waiting patiently in our closets. But I’m sure many of us also have that one special model we’re eager to start once the current project on the bench is finished.

For me, that next project will be the Aeropiccola Susanna II, scale 1:34.
Like many of our members, I hunted this out-of-production kit on eBay for months before finally securing this one for $150.00.

The kit was produced by Aeropiccola, a historic Italian model manufacturer based in Turin (Torino), Italy.
The company was especially known for its wooden ship kits, which were marketed worldwide during the mid-to-late 20th century. Although no longer active, Aeropiccola is still remembered fondly for its “Made in Italy” craftsmanship and the nostalgia associated with its kits.

Aeropiccola ceased regular operations in the early 1990s. Its founder, Domenico Conte, passed away in 1990, and the family continued the business only briefly before closing the company.

This one has been on my wish list for quite some time.
Show me yours.
